Build 636 Turned My Software Into A Brick. 643 Didn't Help.

My Vegas Pro 19 was working like a charm until I downloaded 636, and now it won't render anything. It won't even re-render old videos I wanted to add a single, static graphic to. It renders for 2 minutes (showing 20+ hours until completion for a 30-minute 720p video with only 5 tracks) and then just stops, freezing the program.

I updated to 643 but it has made no difference whatsoever.

I have a new computer, only 4 months old, so It should handle the workload with no problem. Here are the specs:

I publish my own newscast and MUST have a working video editor. I have missed TWO WEEKS worth of shows due to this problem, costing me thousands of dollars. Sure would appreciate some help, most ricky-tick.

I would also recommend uploading a screenshot of your file i/o settings and render template settings.

This laptop has a NVIDIA® GeForce® MX350, 2 GB GDDR5 card? That ram amount is below the minimum VP 19 wants. Perhaps it needs to be disabled in Vegas and I would not use it for renders (so no NVENC, try QSV instead).

As a workaround you could also try a tool like Voukoder which takes the raw frames from Vegas and encodes it separately: voukoder.org/

As another workaround you could pay someone to render videos for you in the interim- should be cheaper for you than not being able to render at all!

Clearly not the same issue @tactech as you reported overall program slowness, not render crashes and Bobby P had the same issue with 636. Not all problems with Vegas are the same, or even related.

I was so frustrated with the 643 build that I overlooked things in this post and only saw the last part of the title " 643 Didn't Help" that caught my attention and once the 636 started working for me I was saved ;-) and overenjoyed.

Watch for me on the news. I'm not a computer geek (no offense) but a writer forced to use video as my medium. I am about to murder the Best Buy employee who told me this computer would be more than capable of doing the job.

Yes, a bit underpowered in Graphix, as per 'state of the art' but that is not his problem, IT WAS WORKING LIKE A CHARM, he states with Vegas 19 and now not. That machine is very solid for his relatively modest type production. Something else going on. You can't have too much machine for video, that's always true, and a workstation or custom configured PC is definitely the way to go, but again, his specs are not all that bad, and for 720p news cast with 5 tracks. I've used twenty years.

It turns out that the Best Buy employee who exaggerated the capabilities of the laptop had been let go. The store manager was very accommodating and will allow me to return my 6-month old laptop for full credit. I ended up ordering this.

If you also install the needed (GPU)drivers for video editting
In VPro 19 Help/Check for Driver Updates tells you wich .

Looking at air flow for the case... it looks like it's going to suffocate, which might cause thermal throttling of both CPU and GPU.

Proper air flow is extremely important when your hardware is running close the edge rendering. A 120mm water cooler isn't the best choice for cooling. Especially with the air coolers that are out there that are midrange.

The case I have my hardware in is a Phanteks P400a digital in white. I've added a rear 120mm exhaust fan. I am using an air cooler on my slightly overclocked Ryzen 9 3900X.
