Can't Import Newer Nvidia Experience MP4's

mytai01 wrote on 12/19/2021, 9:03 PM

I make videos using Nvidia Experience, then import them to Vegas 14.0. However, something seems to have happened to the way Nvidia records the video and I no longer can import them. I can still import older recordings using older versions of Nvidia Experience. Does anyone know what's going on?

MediaInfo please so we can see what's inside your MP4s as probably Nividia Experience has changed the codec it's using. Instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

@mytai01 @EricLNZ Nvidia Driver updated a few days ago, nothing new there, it updates every couple of wks, but Experience updated about the same time, that doesn't do that very often,

I record with Experience quite often & have no problem importing & editing in Vegas,

Here's one if you want to compare

I examined two MP4 that I made with Nvidia Experience. The older video was in AVC format and AVC long codec, the newer one was in HEVC format and HEVC long codec. In fact, I had to purchase a new codec to play the video on Windows 10.

@mytai01 I just briefly tried mine again, i've a 34" 4k screen so even if i push the Experience settings up to 8k it still records as above, 4k 3840 AVC, 🤷‍♂️

Can you go to the top of the page, click on your icon - My Profile & fill in your Signature with your system specs, Windows version, CPU, GPU & RAM, also which version of Vegas you're using, this will then show at the bottom of comments & will help people help you,

also do as Eric says, post Mediainfo details about the media that won't work, choose View - Text in Mediainfo like i did above,

It looks like Nvidia Experience has updated its own codec to H.265. It looks like I'll need to add H.265 to Vegas Pro 14.0, if that's even possible. I just found another post about this topic. It looks like 14.0 can't import H.265.

@mytai01 There's a HEVC switch in Vegas, i avoid HEVC 265 tho as they can be unstable or whatever the right word is, there's loads of posts on here about them,

You're best off using Handbrake or another tool to re-encode the NVIDIA Experience files to easier to process constant framerate AVC anyway. I'd try that to start with as even a new version of Vegas may have issues with these files. @mytai01

I solved the problem by upgrading to Vegas Pro 19.0. This version can handle the newer codec. Thanks for all your responses.
