Cannot import MTS on Win7 with V19

relaxvideo wrote on 5/16/2022, 9:07 AM

Ok, i know, i know Win7 isn't supported anymore.

I also have Win10, but mainly for VR and boot only rarely (once a week)

Because i'm a big fan of 3D and this also works far better in Win7 than W10,
(nvidia support, etc) i still use Win7 for everyday work. (it's a much nicer OS anyway)

So I finally bought Vegas 19 and installed on Win7.
GPU accelerating seems to work, i can even import hevc mp4-s, etc. so a big step forward from V11/12 :)

Only issue i cannot import a simple 1080p MTS file (h264).
I think it's because it has AC3 audio. If i remux without audio track i can import it.

Also, i cannot render an audio track to AC3, because the plugin is not activated yet.

So how can i manually activate it? Why not automatic? My PC is online, Vegas can access internet,
app isn't disabled in firewall, etc.

Thanks for the tip!

Have you read the forum posts that have been posted lately regarding MTS?
Was there nothing there that could help you?

relaxvideo wrote on 5/17/2022, 12:01 AM

Yes, i read that.

Unfortunately nothing helped, i have to re-encode the ac3 audio :(

OR use Vegas 11/12 again :(

It's a pity that an older version of the app work flawless with ac3+video files, coming from SONY 3D cam and MILC!

Thanks for the help!

AC3 and MTS was dropped for W7, mid year in VMS16 so I guess also since VP17 that came few month later.

If it's only 2 channel audio REMUX using shutter encoder to mp4, and choose the option to re-encode the audio to AAC. If it's more than 2 channelsREMUX to mov, re-encoding audio to AAC or wav

relaxvideo wrote on 5/17/2022, 6:15 AM

yes, shutter encoder is great for this because of batch encoding.

but best would be native import just like old, good Vegas pros

@relaxvideovv... from your signature, your computer's CPU is an i7-2600. This is a 2nd gen i7 from around 2011- eleven years ago. Are your computer specs in your signature still correct?

If yes, please have a look at the recommended minimum specs for Vegas Pro 19, It's a minimum 6th gen i5 for HD.

Please consider that this may possibly be a contributory issue - not just a W7 v W10 issue.

@Dexcon I don't think the hardware is the reason. I am running Vegas 19 on Q9650 Quad core 3ghz processor 8 gig ram with a GT730 video card. It edits 1920 x 1080 mts files and others with no issue. Rendering is the slow part but editing and previewing in real time is fine.

relaxvideo wrote on 5/17/2022, 8:15 AM

Yes, i still use i7-2600 and am very satisfied with it :)
I use it with a 1660Ti and 16GB ram even for VR (Quest 2).

When i like to upgrade, i have to replace my cpu, cooler, motherboard and ram modules.
I even have to reinstall both operating systems and all of the apps with lot of tweaks what i did since years.

Too much work, not worth now. I use this system until i can :)

The OS is not hardware as far as I have ever known. From Wikipedia:

An operating system (OS) is system software that manages computer hardware, software resources, and provides common services for computer programs.

Hardware are tangible/physical items like motherboards, GPUs, power supplies, keyboards, mice, etc.

Yes, i still use i7-2600 and am very satisfied with it

That's absolutely fine. But with that comes the real likelihood that the programs for that computer are ideally going to be programs from that era. I liked XP (other than the regular BSODs) but I doubt that many of the programs on that computer (which I still have) will work optimally or at all on W10 or W11.

(but i hate it, lol :) )

And as i wrote win7 was made for 3D stereo, which is my work and hobby, i use it every day.

don't understand your response. You suggested that @relaxvideo videos hardware was possibly the issue,

I said before: your computer's CPU is an i7-2600. This is a 2nd gen i7 from around 2011- eleven years ago

While the CPU chip is technically a physical item, the use of the term CPU is usually a term that refers to the Operating System (OS) which is held within the CPU chip. i7-2600 is the operating system (OS) - it is software - it is code. Being code, i7-2600 is not a physical item that you can hold in your hand. The OS is the interface between programs and hardware.

I use .mts files on a regular basis. Media Info shows the audio component to be pcm. Can you convert ReMux an odd file or 2 so that the audio is pcm. Your i7-2600 should cope easily with mts. Just stay away from h265.

Have no source of .mts with ac3 so cannot test

MTS via with AC3 requires a decoder which is only available via more recent versions of Windows 10 (and 11). MTS/AC3 files will not work in VP 19 in windows 7.

relaxvideo wrote on 5/17/2022, 12:33 PM

But what is the reason it works fine since years under Win7 with Veg11/12?
So Win7 cannot be the problem..

I can even accept this situation when i like to import some special, non-standard file format.

But come on Magix, this is only a standard camcorder file, which i work 90% of my Vegas time.
