To be CLEAR - I cannot run vegas 18. I cannot uninstall Vegas 18. I cannot install vegas 18. I get various error messages. Running Vegas 18 does nothing but have Vegas 18 sitting in the task manager (nothing on screen). When uninstalling I get an error message saying I do not have the correct DLL to uninstall. When I did a clean wipe on vegas 18 (deleting the files in the directories and registry information) - the install program says that the program is already installed and to uninstall first before installing.

Update: All the posts on this forum did not take into account all of the places Vegas 18 had for files and registry data points. I had to use a 3rd part software to uninstall. WHY? WHY magix do i have to use third party software just to get your product to uninstall and reinstall and function? That makes ZERO sense. Lost customer for any future products. Have a good day.

UPDATE2 - Vegas 18 still will not run. I guess I will just wait for guidance at this point. I have been working on this for 4 hours. Thanks Magix. Great work.

Update3 - Whelp. I renamed the errorreportclient.exe in the main vegas folder and rebooted my PC - and now it ran and asked for my registry code. Seems like a perfectly normal way to get a piece of software to operate. (sarcasm). Thanks for reading!

Most of us don't have such issues installing or reinstalling VEGAS, so there's something that went wrong with this installation.

Also, we're not tech support- go back up to the top and click on support communicate with support.

We use Revo to uninstall Vegas and haven't had any problems.

That said, complete manual uninstallation instructions are here, and are also linked from the main FAQ post.

https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-do-a-clean-uninstall-of-vegas-pro--111205/

That said, I don't know that your "crashed and was unstable while trying to render videos and then would not run" issues will be resolved by a clean uninstall and reinstallation of Vegas 18.

Usually, those problems are unrelated to the installation, and are corrected by troubleshooting source media, graphics drivers, conflicting processes, or by simply resetting Vegas to default values.

It is generally agreed that nuclear options are best saved as a last resort, after ruling out routine issues.

+11
Revo Pro has a 'Forced' uninstall mode. that can find the pertinent files and registry entries. If the application's uninstall (exe) file is intact, the free version of Revo Uninstall is adequate 99% of the time to remove leftover entries and such Windows default uninstall levees behind.
btw, there is a fully functional trial version of Revo, Otherwise. the pro version ain't that expensive.

Yes, I too use Revo Pro to uninstall software. As for the OP, I guess they never found residual leftovers from other software on their computer. I know most software do not, for some reason, totally remove all the registry entries and folders. Heck, Ccleaner was a commonly used tool (before being taken over by AVast with it's data mining, etc.) for cleaning registries of old entries.

As per the OP and issues with Win11 and VP18, can't say I have experienced anything personally. My computer specs are in my Signature.

Here is a screenshot of rendering UHD 4K 10bit 4:2:2 footage with no problems.

Thanks everyone, I went ahead and used REVO to uninstall and then reinstalled Vegas 18 and had the same issue. So, something else is going on with my system as you all are not having issues like this. Vegas 15 runs stable is I am using that as a backup for now - and I took your advice and ran this issue through tech support and am still awaiting an answer. And to answer - this happens with all kinds of media sources, from downloads, live feeds, different formats, and video containers. That said, thank you SO much for all your help(s), now I can explore an issue perhaps with computer; some other piece of software or hardware causing this issue. I am running an I9 13900k on a Gigabyte arorus Master MB, with 64 gigs of memory (nothing overclocked at all) - with an Nvidia 4090 on windows 11. Maybe with Tech Support's help they will be able to pinpoint something wrong with my rig and let me know. I'll be sure to update when I find out as maybe it will help someone else. I am just frustrated as I read through my previous messages - as I was on a deadline - and am still frustrated as I work piles up. I am hesitant to buy the latest version when an issue like this exists, especially if it's something with the computer itself that needs to be resolved before moving forward. Thanks again everyone!

You don't have to buy the latest version to see if it works. You can download a trial version, which has limitations on length of rendering. You will still be able to render a 2 minute segment.

You will still be able to render a 2 minute segment.

Just to clarify based on other comments on the forum over the years ... unless things have changed, the project on the timeline in a Vegas Pro trial version must be less than 2 minutes in total length (i.e. 2 minutes less one frame in length at the maximum) in order for a render to function in that trial version.

In the past, others have reported that just selecting (by looping) a 2 minutes section of, say, a 10 minutes project failed to render in the trial version. But then things may have changed since then.
