Canon EOS R 4K Files

neblackshirts wrote on 12/27/2018, 9:48 AM

Vegas Pro (16 or 15) can't import 4k files from my Canon EOS R. It imports the FHD 1080 files from the EOS R but won't allow any 4k files to be imported. The EOS R 4k files import fine into Premiere Pro and Davinci Resolve but no luck with Vegas Pro. Vegas Pro imports 4k files from my C200 just fine as well but not from the EOS R. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Just for yuks, do you have Quicktime loaded?

Any chance you could upload a sample file from the EOS R to Dropbox or other file share site so people here could take a whack at it? I looked at the EOS R in a store last week but didn't bring home sample video like I usually do.

Have you visited this Canon site?

neblackshirts wrote on 12/27/2018, 2:13 PM

Thanks John! I have visited the Canon site and no luck. Below is the link to the dropbox file (EOS R 4K file example).

I downloaded your file and with me no problem in V15 and 16, but in Vpro 14 it is not possible to import the file. No quicktime present

When I disable the so4 compound plug it is not possible to import, so I think you . . . . . . .

Which build of Vegas Pro 16 do you use? I can import that dropbox clip without problem into Vegas Pro 16 build 352 but playback performance is very low.

neblackshirts wrote on 12/27/2018, 3:06 PM

j-v - the so4 compound plug was the answer! I had it set to "false" because I am having lag issues and setting it to false has helped. Once I changed it back to true, I can see the files. Thanks!

The camera is awesome! It matches the footage from my C200 quite nicely using clog.
