Cant export in Movie Studio 15

Mark-Creathorne wrote on 5/13/2024, 5:15 PM

I had rendered video many times in Movie Studio Pro 15 and now I cannot render at all. I just get a white screen. The FX bypass button is on all the time and it still worked for export but now it wont work at all. I have looked for solutions and in preferences I can change the GPU acceleration which gives the choices of NVIDIA, INTEL or OFF . Preview device is Windows Graphics card or OHCI Compliant IEEE/DV. I have also re installed it but the same thing happens.

"Movie Studio Pro 15"? Do you mean Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 15? If so try a "Factory Reset". Instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/

Make sure you tick the box to clear the cache which is something that reinstalling doesn't do.

Hi Eric, its Vegas Movie Studio 15 Suite. I have tried the factory reset and its still the same. Never had this problem before. It seems to be the video preview. It was working but by passing effects and the split screen just has a white block and it exports a white screen with audio only. I have tried different export settings and nothing works.

Is the video media sourced from the same device (e.g. camera, phone, action cam, etc) and using the same video (e.g. .mp4 (AVC) aka H.264) as you've successfully used in VMS15 in the past? Or is the video from a newly acquired source such as new phone, camera or action-cam like GoPro? If yes to the latter, it would be most helpful if you would upload a detailed MediaInfo report (a free app) - more details given in this link: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

This is needed to see if the video media is a modern format (e.g. HEVC) that may not be a supported format in VMS15

@Mark-Creathorne Grab and post a screen capture of your Preview window and the buttons above. Unless it's a media problem like Dexcon suggests it might just be that you've pressed something. What Video FX had you applied and which you are bypassing?

Thanks Dex and Eric, There is definitely something going wrong as I cant preview with effects and then this white window is all I get when exporting. The footage is AVCHD 1920 and I had no problem with the other sections which were a different project. Yes, may have pressed something but undid everything and it still exported only sound with a white screen. I opened another project and it was ok but still no effects monitor. Im currently re doing the section in Magix Movie Studio 23. Will post screenshot later. Thanks for all the help, I never had this problem before with previous versions of Movie Studio.

It would be worthwhile to check to make sure that the video media is not corrupt in some way. Two checks that may give a clue about this are: 1/ set the display in VMS's Explorer window to 'Thumbnails' and if the video media is corrupt, a generic icon may appear in the thumbnail rather than a sample image of the video; and 2/ run MediaInfo on the media (in Windows Explorer, not VMS) and if the MediaInfo detailed report is empty, that would strongly suggest that there's a problem with the media.

If all is okay with the media, at least that possibility has been ruled out.
