Hi:
I may have learned a little more about the registry problem. I have discovered that if I delete certain Sound Forge programs (so that I can legally install them on another machine that I own), the deletion process removes keys in the File Formats 2 registry which then prevents Vegas Video from working if VV3 was installed before the deletions occurred. For example, I had Vegas Pro 1 and Acid Pro 3 on my harddrive. I deleted them so I could install them on another machine. I wanted VV3 by itself on one machine. After deleting Acid and Vegas Pro, I discovered that Vegas Video 3 would no longer work. Looking at the registry I discovered that six keys had been removed from the File Formats 2 portion of the registery that VV3 needs. I hope this issue is addressed by Sonic Foundry, because one should be able to move his programs from one computer to another without screwing up the remaining Sonic Foundry programs on that computer.

Rather than go through the tedious process of manually entering the missing keys, I deleted all Sonic Foundry software on the harddrive and reinstalled VV3. This solved my problem for now, but re-registeration and re-activation of several Sonic Foundry programs can be a time-consuming chore.

Moral of the story at this point: "When you remove a Sonic Foundry product from your harddrive, be prepared to re-install everything from Sonic Foundry that remains."

Does this qualify as "good" grief?
