Certain Audio Files Not Rendering

fhu wrote on 2/20/2017, 10:47 AM

Lately I've noticed that certain audio will not render with a project. Usually the audio file will playback on the timeline but once rendered the audio will be missing.

Observations: This happens when I have many tracks with layered audio & the missing file is only with short files (less than 5secs)

I've tried copying the audio file to different harddrives but that doesn't seem to help. Again, it plays back on the timeline great -- but it's just not rendering.

Any thoughts?

It would help to know the source, format and bitrate of the audio files? Are the files that don't render from the same source, codec or bitrate?

Audio: 00:00:00.987, 320 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, Stereo, MPEG Layer-3

Yes, there are other file with same specs and source location that render...

What version and build of Vegas are you using?

If you have files that repeatedly cause this issue, please share some so that others can test on their systems.

(Vaguely related issue here, but in that case the mp3 files didn't play at all. It was solved by a reinstall.)

I'm using V14 build 211 Below is one of the files causing the problem. If I put the file on a timeline alone then it does render -- so for a fix, I simply re-rendered it within V14. The new file works flawlessly. Attached is the original file.

It's not Vegas 14 specifically, it opens in SF-11(and VP-9) but if I make any changes in SF, the waveform disappears. (????) Perhaps the very short length has something to do with it. MP3's inherently add silence at the head & tail of a file. That said, MP3s should never be used in the edit stage anyway.

Agree. It's just strange how some mp3s render fully (even ones that are from the same source folder)

You might be right about the clip short length...
