To get perfect squares that fill the screen... take the longest dimension and divide into one. ie 16x9 take the 16 and calculate 1/16 = 0.0625 to get smaller squares. You can then get smaller squares by dividing 1 by any multiple of 16 ... 1/(16x2) = 0.03125, 1/(16x5) = 0.0125, etc This will only work if the dimensions are whole numbers: 16x9 or 9x16; 4x3, 5x7 etc...
Edge Blending can be used to produce gradients when used as either Horizontal or Vertical.
Use of Levels is most effective when combined with Edge Blending to offset checker pattern.
A quick use of these as box backgrounds for titles...
Use of HSL Filter to change the colour and Soft Contrast for shaping. Title supplied by BCC Title Studio - something I really need to get to grips with !
Yes, I don't normally have a fussy background - but I just thought the pattern with the aid of this particular font style gave it a medieval look and feel. Now I have to think what I can use it with ... 😆
