Have you ever used/tried the Track Group feature? With this feature you can shrink several (selected) tracks into ONE track. Makes big and complicated projects overlookable.
Yes, I do that all the time. That is truly a good help when the tracks are numbering over the 20-ies. But it doesn't fill the need of tabbed sequences.
Working with a nested project I do on daily basis with opened two or three instances of Vegas every time. You have to investigate, what is the issue that it is not working for you (plug-ins, missing media, low HW resources etc.) But it would be nice to have timeline tabs with sub-sequences edits as DaVinci Resolve has in one instance.
You are probably right. It seems the low memory resources may be a part of the problem. I have 24 GB of RAM though, whoch should be quite good.I guess. Maybe there is some other bottleneck I don't know about.
+1. It is very challenging to deal with large quantities of media. We need better ways to do this. Nested projects are OK but obviously limited. Track groups are also helpful but more in a vertical sense than horizontally if you get my meaning.
Keep it fast, keep it stable. You've got a pretty good feature set right now. I actually wouldn't mind being able to disable Project Media hover bars for in and out points.
@karma17 Whilst I truly can’t disagree with you, I think it would be hard for the “company” to make sales targets without more stuff being added. Added to which, how do you lure people when this is thought to be a given? Stable ain’t sexy 🤓 . And yes, like the emoji I also wear glasses.
@karma17 - Yes to the Project Media Hover thingies. 😣
To change level limits in curves you could do this:
Yes, I know, but that are extra four clicks every time. Why? Doing this for decades we all could save a lot of time! :-) It is also a common standard in other software...
Until you can't overwrite the default preset(s), you spend more time searching stored preset than make extra four clicks as I do every time. I recommended this little update as user-friendly interface improvement for us who do this on daily basis.
OK, what I WANT to have happen is for Plugin suppliers to MAGIX to get their act together. Presently I have NewBlue ColorFast in three different places! Really!?! Same for ProDad Mercalli. Oh yeah, Neat Video... If this can’t happen, then please give me the ability to rearrange them myself.
How about a FX search facility that ain’t like watching molasses crawl uphill. It is sooooo slow.

This is what scripting in Vegas Pro is made for. Use the appropriate script to add the Color Curves FX including a specific preset. Thus it's even faster than the regular applying of an FX. It could be done with a simple single mouse-click or keystroke, also this would apply the FX preset to all Events selected in one go.
It's not that I see no value in having the choice to just drag that two points horizontal to make the use of Curves easier. There are a lot of useful tweaks (and fixes) I'd wish to see for the Color Curves. I'm just sharing the solutions I'm aware of.
an extensive Color Curves dialogue . eye dropper . longer width , with digits on the gradient gray scale bar . Sample a color with eye dropper places a Handle on the curve . allow the eye dropper to display RGB values without having to click , and do it again ,...very inconvenient , when finding an RGB to click on .
In Chroma key , or perhaps a generic panel that shows RGB values when eye dropper in on the Viewer . Photoshop has that . As it is now , a pixel must be Picked , to view it's RGB value . If that isn't it , then must re-click on the eye dropper to activate the eye dropper again ,...Not convenient .
Hover mode , for the eye dropper , to update the read pixel values .
additional in-depth information in the F1 Help . Properties Color space info , gamma ,so we can use Vegas in a more technical meaningful way . Or provide reference sources of info .
.AC3 Dolby 5.1 has been in Vegas since Sony has had it . Vegas also supports 24 bit 96 khz PCM audio . Go into menu : Tools-->Burn disc-->Burn Blur-ray disk , that will open the "Mastering" dialogue for the best audio to go with Blu-ray compliant video . Using the regular Render-As area has Dolby only , with .m2ts .
Nest sequences or multiple timelines.I wish that vegas will be more stable and userfriendly.
just coming back from davinci resolve because of the great timeline in vegas.
timelines of all other NLEs has a too slow workflow for video (too film related).
so please keep the really good UI + timeline of vegas, add tabbed timelines (or the great stacked timeline view from resolve) and make everything stable.
vegas is the only one contender on the editingmarket with this fast workflow-kind-of-timeline.
I want Contour Shuttle Pro Scrubbing support on ALL Timelines, and here that means FXing and SFXing and all those Timed Keyframes Curves and Lanes. .... Please....

You can already Nest sequences and have been able to since well before Magix took over. Just drag a .Veg file onto a new timline and it will be nested.
The great thing about Vegas is that it lets you do this and have multiple instances of the program open because you really don't want
Sequence tabs
Built in sequences are badly needed for me. The nest project thing and having two instances of Vegas open doesn't cut it for me. Working on a project and opening another instance of Vegas crashes my Vegas 99% of the time. In order to succeed I always need to close the open project and then open another Vegas instance and after a few crashes until finally two instances agree to stay opened - then projects can be opened on both and events can be copied and pasted.
But this is a showstopper process. Two instances obviously takes to much resources to manage. Built in sequences in the same instance is the solution, like in Premiere Pro. Sequences are necessary on big and complicated projects. You just can't have everything on the same timeline.

Still, not an ideal solution .. the ideal solution is to have multiple sequences/timeline on the same project.

Nested project is nice, but it is not a replacement for multiple sequences /timelines.

100% Agree with you.
Also, this post is for VEGAS 17 Suggestions and Feature Requests, not to discuss work-arounds. So suggesting Nesting and Track Groups is not relevant.
