Configuring ShuttlePRO V2 with VEGAS PRO 16!

aboammar wrote on 6/1/2019, 3:57 PM

So, I received today my ShuttlePRO V2 and I am very excited to start using it, again, with Vegas Pro 16.

After setting it up, I selected from the presets list the closest preset to version 16, and it was the SONY Vegas Pro 13

Everything seems to be working fine except for Jog Forward function (F9). I get the following window instead of jogging forward:

It's like taking a screenshot for part of the screen. Here is a copy of the screenshot output:

Any idea what's going on, and how to fix it?

I have settings for vegas16.exe but cannot remember where I got the settings file from. The jog is different from yours (maps f17...f21 and ctlr f17..f21 or something like that.)

Maybe here: https://www.contourdesign.com/windows-shuttle-settings/

Does the same thing happen if you click the F9 Key? If so, I would assume that Windows has remapped that keystroke. F9 is what Vegas uses for forward jog. I believe Kinvermark is talking about shuttle.

Kinvermark wrote on 6/1/2019, 7:33 PM

Yes, by "vegas16.exe" I meant the application settings name in the contour shuttle control panel.

Former user wrote on 6/1/2019, 7:49 PM

Sorry, I meant you were talking about the shuttle knob on the contour that uses the higher (and non-existent on a keyboard) F-keys. the Jog knob uses F9 and F3.

No, it has nothing to do with the ShuttlePRO settings. The problem is related to Windows!

Yes, pressing F9 dose the same thing which mean Windows has remapped it, but how to fix that?

F9 is not normally used by Windows but is used by some MS programs like Word. Have you installed any macro apps or other keymapping apps?

I just checked Vegas 15, Windows 10 1809, and I have no problem with my ShuttlePro V2 inner jog left and right with F3 and F9 - 1 frame forwards/backwards.

I'm using the presets for Vegas 15 downloaded from the ContourDesign web site and the target application as Vegas150.exe. Did you set the target application to Vegas 16?

Are you using a laptop by any chance, with the Fn button turned on?

Hi

Have you tried reprogramming the Jog right and left of the Shuttle Pro to use right and left arrow keys instead of the default settings F3/F9?

As I stated before, the problem is not from Vegas Pro or from the preset of ShuttlePro V2 but from Windows itself because F9 somehow has been remapped to capture a screenshot. Even when Vegas Pro is not running, pressing F9 capture a screenshot. It also happens when running any software.

I just need to find a way to reset the F9 to its default and I do not know how to do that!

BTW, I am not using a laptop, but my Logitech K800 keyboard does have Fn key and Alt Gr key.

I can do that but the problem is that pressing the right or left arrows does not move one frame at a time unless the timeline is zoomed in. I want to be able to jogle left or right one frame at a time regardless of the zoom level.

One other thought, do you have any Screen Capture software installed (like OBS or Camtasia)? If Windows doesn't use F9. maybe another program has grabbed it and won't let go. Other than that, I am out of ideas.

Does your keyboard have an F LOCK function key? You might toggle that. It looks like in the pic that you linked that it does down between alt and ctrl.

I am not aware of any screen capture software installed! I use the Windows 10 built in screen capture tool, the Snip & Sketch.

My keyboard doesn't have F Lock .. the key you mentioned is the Fn key, not F Lock.

After many trial and errors, I learned that when using the ALT key with the left or right arrow keys, the cursor do move by only one frame at a time, so I programed the Jog Right dial to use ALT+Right arrow key instead of the default F9. Problem solved. Thanks @john-baker for your intial idea.

I still need to figure out why the F9 does not work as it supposed to.

Pleased you have it working, however why you have to use Alt+right/left arrow is a mystery..

Re the F9 issue do you other screen shot software installed that uses the F9 key as a hotkey?

@Grazie

Assuming you mean MS = Vegas Movie Studio then it has its own forum here, this is the Vegas Pro forum

Thank you, but why it is a mystery? Isn't this the Vegas Pro default shortcut for this function? Please see screenshot below, and it does show the shortcut as ALT+Right:

I am still looking for an application that uses the F9 in my system.

UPDATE:

Its indeed the default according to this:
