MS7 and MS10 mentioned by @Grazie probably mean the MicroSoft Windows Operating Systems. Grazie is a rather seasoned VP user. 20K posts/comments on the VP forum. I would not think he'd go from Movie Studio 7 to Movie Studio 10 at this point in time.

@Grazie is creating unique shortcuts to the extent that everybody is just guessing what it could mean 😂

However, you might be right although the standard shortcuts for Windows 7 is Win7 and Windows 10 is Win10

So finally, I found what application is using the F9 .. it is the PostImage App which I only use to upload images, but never used it to capture screenshots, that is why it never came into my mind. 😅

Anyway, I disabled its F9 hotkey and everything now works as it supposed to.

I have to agree with @aboammar comment re abbreviating software names, however your comment about meaning the OS does make more sense.

Pleased you have found it.

Well, I upgraded from Win7 to Win10 very long time ago and I never looked back. Also, CSP is working perfectly in Win10 if that is what you are asking.

@Grazie

Hi

Not with CSP - I do not use it, however (slightly OT) for many people the upgrade from Win 7 to 10 proceeds quite smoothly, I am still on Windows 10 1803 and have been holding off upgrading to 1903.

Issues that I have experienced going through the Win 10 upgrade sequence ie 1607, 1703, 1709, 1803 ( over a period of 3yrs) are:

  • Older software fails to work with Win 10
  • Activation of some software can be 'removed' - requires re-activation and in the worst case scenario re-installation, ensuring that all remnants of the program are removed.
  • The user account gets messed up - this one is rare, however it did happen to me in the 1803 upgrade - fixed by creating a new account.
  • Windows 10 activation may fail if you have to replace major components in your PC - Microsoft fixed this for me.

If you upgrade direct to version 1903 then there is another potential issue - some folders become inaccessible - there is a new feature in Windows Defender - folder protection - this can be easily fixed.

If you intend to upgrade I would suggest you make a backup image of your PC before doing so - I use CloneZilla to create an image to an external hard drive - also do this about every 3 months as an insurance against hardware failure.

HTH

@aboammar - Nothing World shattering, but I use this continually:

One Button and I get to see what I've done.

john-brown wrote on 6/3/2019, 11:37 AM

@aboammar

I haven't changed any of the commands on my CSP (Contour ShuttlePro v2) for Vegas 15 since I don't use Vegas much; I just used the downloaded default pref from the Contour site.

I do use CSP for Video Pro X all of the time and I went through several configurations before settling on what I have now, and even then I might tweak a few settings. I also use it with Xara and Samplitude.

In case you're not aware, you can have several settings for the same application. I have 3 for VPX. Add in a switch settings command on a button; I use 2 buttons for switching - one for Next, the other for Previous. This allows you to have more banks of commands available.

It will take you a while to determine what works best for you. I had 4 groups, down to 3. I settled on one main settings group with the commands that I use a lot for editing; the other two groups are used infrequently. I went for those that don't always have a button available on the screen. If there is a button on the screen, I use that and save the CSP for commands that have to be selected from a menu whether long or short or by using a shortcut. My goal was to reduce having to open menus or use shortcuts on the keyboard; keep one hand on the CSP, the other on the mouse.

There is a template image of the CSP buttons. I suggest that you print it and write which commands go with which buttons. I used the template image in Xara, made images of all of my setups and printed them out; changed them when I changed the commands around.

It takes a while to get used to the CSP, but it's worth it.

Have fun!

ShuttlePRO configuration files are included with every release of VEGAS Pro. You can find them in the VEGAS Pro 16.0 directory in Program Files. You should be able to import the settings from the Contour Shuttle Device control panel.

john-brown wrote on 6/3/2019, 12:31 PM

@Grazie

You're going to love this.

  1. Open the CSP control panel and scroll down the Applications setting to get your Vegas settings. Mine says Magix Vegas Edit.
  2. Right below Application setting is Factory Setting - Options - open Options - Create new settings - Copy contents from current settings.
  3. This opens an Explorer view which should be the main Program Files for Vegas. If not, navigate to it and select the VegasXXX.exe file. In my case, it's Vegas150.exe.
  4. Apply.
  5. Right below Application setting is now "Customized Settings" - open Options, Rename settings and change the name to "Magix Vegas something" (a descriptive name like effects or import or whatever will remind you as to what it is, say Effects). If your original settings name is "Vegas...." and not "Magix Vegas...," the use the same first word, "Vegas...," so that they show up one after the other in alphabetical order on the list. You can also change the name of the original one to be more descriptive.
  6. You now have a copy of the previous one. To switch to the other bank, select a button (I use buttons 11 and 13) and right below, under Computer response, from the popdown, select "Switch settings" and select either "Previous" or "Next." If you only have 2 settings banks, you only need to use 1 button, "Next," if you have more, then you can either have 2 buttons, Next and Previous, or just Next and scroll through the banks of settings. Change the comment at the bottom to correspond.
  7. Apply.
  8. Now you can go ahead and change the settings to be what you want for the other buttons.
  9. Apply.
  10. Go to your original settings and change the same button to be Switch, Next. Apply.
  11. Now try it in Vegas. When you click on the CSP control button in the task manager at the bottom of the Windows screen, you'll see both of your settings names on the list so that you know which one has focus. Of course, Vegas has to have focus first.

Yes. And/or use a button on the CSP, which is usually quicker.

Of course Grazie 1 and Grazie 2 have to be linked to the same target application.
