Constant Crashing on Vegas Pro 21

Sam-Pugh wrote on 1/2/2024, 12:15 AM

I have recently purchased vegas 21 and it seems to crash on me randomly every few mins. There is nothing apparent causing this, sometimes it happens when it is simply playing back the video. I followed a quick youtube tutorial to reduce this however it ended up making it worse and crashing on startup so I reset all the settings to default. I am more than happy to send over all details that might help solve this. I saw a similar post from 3lation so I will provide all the details they also provided :)

System details:

Operating System: Windows 10 Home

RAM: 16.0 GB

Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 (drivers are up to date)

Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 6-Core Processor

Vegas Version : 21.0 (build 108)

I will procide source footage that are from different projects but I have the issues on all footage I put into vegas

@Sam-Pugh Is there a special reason to set your project resolution to 2560x1440 when your footage is only 1920x1080?

I am not 100% sure, my buddy who is a youtuber full time told me to set it as that I think so I can upload to youtube at 1440p. I might be wrong though

You are working with a 4K project and your system doesn't appear to have the minimum requirement of 32gb RAM for that?

@Sam-Pugh - @EricLNZ Has made a good point. Please see my signature and compare those with yours, I'm not saying this is what you should do but do reflect on my rig.

Please test with non-4k media and allow VP21 to match the Project to that media - let's get you going!

Also, you joined today. You signed up today and I believe this is your very first post on the VP Forums, yes? We do need a lot more info to start assisting you. Are you up for that? Since when is 1440p=4k?

It's not. Apologies, my mathematics let me down. Plus it's late in my day.

@Sam-Pugh

Windows logs information about events that happen in a feature called Reliability History. Here is how to access the feature and share the information.

View Reliability History

Windows Event Viewer and application-specific logs are handy, but let's stay in the shallow water for now.

Sassylola wrote on 1/3/2024, 3:01 PM
john_dennis, thanks for showing how to view and show a Reliability History report.
Here is mine, I think I was training with Mocha Vegas when this crash occurred.
Do not need help, but maybe it will help somebody else.
