Continuous Bugs and Crashes in Vegas Pro 19--Is It Just Me?

Did you do the re-encode yet? Handbrake- pick a production preset, uncheck the resolution limit and swap out the files. If you don't have glitches you figured it out.

The non-supported iGPU may cause issues with stability in Vegas- if it's possible to disable the HD Graphics 4600 in bios or device manager to test, consider that as you have a working GPU.

I'm having a bit of difficulty installing the latest Handbrake but I'll keep trying.

I don't understand your last paragraph about the HD Graphics 4600. I don't have that video card.

If you can't get Handbrake to work (it requires a Microsoft update as well- I just did this myself), try Shutter Encoder.

You have the HD Graphics 4600 as it is part of your CPU (integrated GPU). If it's not disabled already you might consider disabling it in case it is the cause of the graphical instability you are seeing.

VP 19 424 announced "Fixed issue where VEGAS can crash or hang when using unsupported Intel GPUs." (i.e. GPUs like yours that are older than the HD 530) https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-19-build-424-update-2--132666/ but there could still be lingering issues.

Yes, I did install the updated .NET package but it still complains when launching. I'll try a reboot when I can. Otherwise, good tip about Shutter Encoder. I don't know that one.

As for the graphics, I'm not using the motherboard's integrated graphics. I'm using an AMD Radeon RX 570 card with 4 GB of RAM.

When you say not using integrated graphics does it show up in device manager/display adapter? If so you might be inadvertently using it.

I assume you are on 19.424.

Nope. Definitely not using the wrong graphics card.

Thank you, that is important to confirm.

Hi everyone. Tonight I took the time to recode the video file I was using in my project to see if swapping out the original file for the recoded file would make a difference in the odd random key frame redraws as I scroll back and forth in the PiP key frames window. When I went to open the project to swap the video files, I realized that in all my trials and different versions of the project, I accidentally overwrote the original problem project file. I didn't delete it, I overwrote it so there is no way to recover it.

Now of course, in the other project file versions, the problem isn't recurring even with the same original video file. I guess I'll never know exactly what was going on and the only assumption I can make is that the project file was somehow corrupted and this was causing the odd behavior. I can't reproduce it when I try and add key frames again, even using the same video file.

Oh well. I do appreciate all the help and I learned a lot and got some very useful info from everyone. I especially am glad that I learned about the Mocha HitFilm plugin on the FXhome site for motion tracking. It's much more advanced than the motion tracking built into VP19 and it's very inexpensive for how advanced it is, so I'll probably go with that for this more advanced type of 3D motion tracking I'm trying to do. It also has full video preview zoom functionality which I was looking for but Vegas Pro doesn't have. I'm hoping it works with Vegas Pro or if not, there is a stand alone version.

Thanks again!

@stevefoobar2 - I’ve really liked this thread. You’ve learnt, well, so have I, and, if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have. I’ve been investing in MOCHA Pro Plug-in for several years now, and it is a stunning.

@stevefoobar2 Late to the party but i agree with Grazie, Mocha Pro is stunning, it'll do some amazing stuff with ease but it is the one plugin that slows my PC down, I don't know about the Hitfilm version but you may find that although you don't like adding to the landfills it might be time to upgrade your PC.

Dexcon wrote on 12/7/2021, 5:24 AM

I don't know about the Hitfilm version

Mocha HitFilm is a basic trimmed down version of Mocha Pro - it's most advanced function is 'Camera Solve' - i.e. planar tracking. Mocha HitFilm does not come with Mocha Pro features like Insert, Stabilise, Replace, etc. Mocha HitFilm introduced me to Mocha and a subsequent upgrade to Mocha Pro many years ago.

……i agree with Grazie, Mocha Pro is stunning, ……but it is the one plugin that slows my PC down,….

I have a high specced, fast PC, but MOCHA Pro brings it to its digital knees when I use its Remove Render Template back in VP. Whilst in the MOCHA PRO workspace Plug-in, no issues.

I attended the IBC in Amsterdam, and spoke with BORIS team for an hour. The solution lies somewhere between the two Teams with neither picking up the ball. Sad…..

Former user wrote on 12/7/2021, 8:51 AM

@Grazie Yeah i find that a lot with Boris reg Vegas, I asked about S_Effect parameters not showing in Vegas, all other programs you can select the controls in S_Effect that you want to show back in the host but not with Vegas, 20 days ago i posted, not a single comment from Boris, In general if i mention Vegas in the title of a post on their forum i get little feedback from them.

Basic Mocha Pro stuff works ok but i always do that bit as a separate project n render it, & like you say within Mocha no problem, so as i'm doing these bits as a separate process i splashed out n got the Standalone + plugin version to see how it goes, you don't have the options tho of adding fx etc. like you do when applying as an insert in Vegas,
