Perhaps try a reset: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-can-i-reset-vegas-pro-to-default-settings--104646/ (instructions given for Vegas Pro but also works on Vegas Movie Studio). Make sure you tick the option to delete the cache. If you can't get it to start while holding down Ctrl+Shift and clicking the program icon, try clicking the program icon to start it and then *immediately* hold down Ctrl+Shift while it is starting.
