Creating a still from video

May I take this one step further (new VMS user...)...

If I do the snapshot , how do I end my video fixed on that snapshot, similar to a STOP action in flash? When I render, the video fades to black or white and I want it to remain indefinitely on the still in the last frame.
I tried moving the looping point to the left before rendering and settng the render to RENDOR LOPP REGION ONLY, but even after that, the final rendered video still went black after the still displayed for 5 seconds.

I guess Im looking to do a post-roll splash screen, vs a pre-roll splash screen?
Thanks!
Flo

Position the cursor on the last frame, save the snapshot of it, place the picture on the timeline at the end of your video, drag it out to the length you want. Since the picture is the same as the last frame of the video, that will give you the stop action/freeze frame effect you desire.

That's basically what I did but it still went dark after a few seconds after rendering and paying back. The still did not stay on. Even when I rendered it where the loop point did not go past the end of the still.
I assumed it would have stopped. Let me check it and try again.

Do I render loop region only or uncheck that box when rendering to wmv to get the last frame to stop and not return to black?

Loop region has nothing to do with rendering the still properly. All that does is choose how much of the timeline you want included in the final render.

The only thing that could explain what you are seeing is if you have a fade on the still or a crossfade into something else.

Well it won't be "indefinitely" .. it will be for however long you set it to be ... 5 second, 30 sec, 30 minutes .. it's up to you.

"I tried moving the looping point to the left before rendering and settng the render to RENDOR LOPP REGION ONLY, but even after that, the final rendered video still went black after the still displayed for 5 seconds. "

Why do you have a "looping point"? If only to achieve this goal then don't use it. Also, did it fade to black, or was it a quick transition? I suspect you're using the default size/time for the still frame.

You need to grab the right side of the still frame box .. and drag it to the right to enlarge the box and make the still frame last longer than the default setting.

Maybe I cant ddo what I want after all by obly using SVMS.

This is for an embedded video for web home page. It is like a short intro to the company. What I wanted was for the video to end and for a fixed image to stay on in the video box with a photo and a message to the viewer so that the page doesn't have a big blank hole when the video concludes.

If im reading your replies correctly, it appears I cannot have the final frame remain still indefinitely after the video concludes but only for a finite period of time by adjusting the length of the clip duration?

Maybe the answer is to take the video into Flash Pro and add a final frame with a STOP action?

Quite true. Standard video players play the video and when they reach the end they're done.

Flash is a different beast. In effect you'd be creating two scenes. Scene one plays the video. When it's done scene two contains the still image, which will sit there as long as the user is looking at the page.

That info would have been helpful in your original post.
