Don't know what exactly you did. Using the /-key to crossfade the video would not affect the audio at all.

How else is it going to "unfade" it. It needs to remove the frames that would otherwise overlap.

Kind of my point to this whole thread. ... you WANT the audio when a speaker is speaking so words don't get cut off. But you want a smooth blend to the visual appearance. It's a programming thing that could be done with a default checkbox.

If you want the audio to just join without losing any frames but at the same time want the video to crossfade then somehow additional frames need to be added to the video. How would you like to see this achieved? Static extension wouldn't give a smooth blend and looping could be very noticeable.

It can be programmed in as a default... that when to clips are dragged / overlapped for an auto cross / fade / transition... that only the video is impacted. i.e.: autocross impacts both video and audio on/off
