Custom toolbar resets each time app is opened

@Siyabonga-Hlalethoa  ... just to check one (though probably unlikely) explanation ... if opening Vegas Pro 21 from the Task Bar icon, are you using the 'VEGAS Pro 21.0 with Prefs Reset' option rather than 'VP21' or a project name? Because that option does reset VP back to its default/factory settings thus losing custom toolbar settings.

much appreciate response, thank you. However I do not think this is the reason as I use template projects for everything, and this has been happening between projects I am working on, I rarely if ever open VEGAS to blank. I also doubt this because only toolbar resets, nothing else.

As per what @Grazie wrote above. When you mention 5 year old bugs, we have zero idea of what you are talking about.

Just a guess but it appears he may be speaking about the issue of the "Custom toolbar resets each time app is opened" and has been having the said issue for about 5 years. Suffice it to say, I keep having the same issues with my custom toolbars coming up missing, just had the issue 2 days ago and just refilled the toolbar again until the next disappearance hopefully later than sooner.

This is indeed a strange bug.

and for @ColdHardDrewth, yes, it seems this hasn't been fixed for a long time, but the problem is we simply have never been able to reproduce this problem locally. It is difficult for us to fix a problem that we are not seeing. We are trying to keep an eye out for what the common thread is here for those who are experiencing the problem.

I'm experiencing the exact same issue - my toolbar icons keep resetting randomly. I've customized my toolbar with many frequently used icons, and it's really frustrating having to spend so much time rearranging them every time this happens. It's truly annoying!

I'm wondering if there's a local file that stores these toolbar settings somewhere? If so, I could keep my own backup and quickly restore my toolbar layout whenever the icons disappear.

Anyone knows where these settings are stored? This would be a huge time-saver!

I’ve experienced this, but not with this vp22.

It's truly annoying!

Good idea! 💡

@Jack S - Nice to see you working on this break. Very useful Jack!

Easy fix. Your customize toolbar settings are saved in the Registry. So anytime anything throws your toolbar out of whack, you simply one click on your saved registry key, restart Vegas and all is well.

Here is the location and also where you export to save a copy of it.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\VEGAS Creative Software\VEGAS Pro\22.0\Metrics\Application
