Regardless of the media, the file should be rendered to optimal bitrate for quality AND playability, NOT to the maximum size needed to fill the media! Overkill is worse than underkill in this case, because it may not play from a flash drive. The Youtube guidelines "may" be about as high as one wants to go.

Ah, good points.

I have to say the video at 1.5Mbps didn't look too bad. I'll use the Youtube guideline of 5Mbps for 720p video @30fps.

I have an LG smart TV which also plays USB so I'll be able to test PQ with it.
