The Disable Resampling option is currently missing but will, we are told, be reinstated in an update.

But if you are going from 60 down to 30 fps MS will be chucking out frames not creating them. So resampling is not involved. If you are getting blurring or ghosting then perhaps your source is interlaced and you have deinterlacing set on blend fields instead of interpolation?

What seems to happen is that it combines frames into a blurry mess -> it does frame blending whenever I render at 30fps. If I render at 60, it's fine.

I have deinterlacing set to interpolate fields, is that correct?

Yes, I consider interpolation the best method.

Are you rendering out at normal play speed or are you slowing down clips on the timeline?

Everything is at regular speed

I cannot reproduce the problem going from 50i to 25p (I'm PAL). A strange one.

There are quite a few videos/how-tos on YouTube talking about the ghosting you get in frames in this software going from 60 to 30 fps. Many say to disable frame blending and resampling to fix it... so at least I know I'm not the only one. The only problem is that The options are gone in v14. So without a fix, I can't render any video.

It sounds like It's going to be at least a month for the fix. Is it possible to downgrade back to 13?

Alternatively, I'd be happy to find & buy another product that has at least the same feature set. I seem to be always having problems with Movie Studio (errors, rendering problems, now this) that cause me hours of lost productivity. What else out there is competitive to this?

A 30-day free trial of Vegas Pro should see you through until the Movie Studio update.

When you switch back you may be able to get your projects back to Movie Studio format using this if you need to: http://www.focusonvegas.com/movie-studio-vegas-pro-version-faker/

Great Idea, Nick - thanks.
