Display Driver crashes when I render to WAV

john-mollaghan wrote on 12/14/2016, 4:03 PM

When I render out to WAV, sometimes Vegas freezes for a few seconds, then this error comes up down in the bottom right hand corner of my screen. The error goes away after a few seconds and I can continue using Vegas.

Any reason for this? VERY annoying. I was hpoing that build 201 would fix it, but no joy.

Once it happens once, it is more likely to happen again if I do another WAV render. Seems a bit intermittent, can't always reproduce it.

Try updating the driver. You could probably find drivers in 3 ways: 1) Windows Update, 2) your motherboard's manufacturer's site, and 3) Intel's site. They may offer different versions and one of them might fix your issue. I would probably do them in that order.

As it happens, there does seem to be an update for my graphics card, so I'll see what happens.

However, this issue does not happen with any other software on my machine, so seems that the issue is with Vegas, NOT the card. We'll see in time.

@john-mollaghan

With all due respect, that logic is faulty.  Other programs may work differently and so do not reveal the problem, but that doesn't mean it is inside Vegas.   When you get messages like that from the operating system you need to look at the basics of your setup, like your drivers, as Nick suggested.

Using latest drivers now. Still have issue. Nothing wrong with my machine setup. Nothing wrong with my logic either. Looks like Vegas to blame after all! Surprise surprise.

Sorry, I disagree.   And the problem with your conclusion is that it isn't a solution!

If you truly want to get this fixed, you need to be open to the possibility that there is something unique about your configuration that may need to be changed.  Otherwise you are just waiting for Vegas dev's to fix something they probably don't even know is broken (if it even is broken).

By the way, isn't intel HD graphics an integrated system, not a card?  What card are you refering to?

I'll look it up. I'm running Windows 10 on a Mac Mini which has integrated Intel graphics like you mentioned. I may need to deactivate any gpu rendering in the Vegas settings for now. It's not that big a deal as Vegas still runs once it recovers. More of an annoyance really. Never had any issue with Vegas 8 or any other software, even processor intensive games.

The fact that you're running on a Mac is a significant factor that would have been worth mentioning in the original post. So are you running via Bootcamp?

I may need to deactivate any gpu rendering in the Vegas settings for now.

GPU rendering is only supported for the 2 AVC encoders so I doubt that will affect it. Unless you mean GPU acceleration of video processing, which is a different thing.
