DJI mic 2 not working with the new 21 update.

lighthouse_films1 wrote on 4/12/2024, 1:11 AM

It worked before, but is now very slow. I opened the same file in Vegas 20, fine. Clearly this is new and a glitch with the update. Please help.

If it's mono audio it won't work with the new decoder. What file format is it exactly? https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

If it's AVC check "enable legacy AVC decoding" in preferences/ file io and it may work.

Did the workaround help?

Otherwise convert it to wav and you can bypass the problematic decoder.

Can you find preferences under the options menu I believe? File io is one of the tabs.

Many thanks, turned out it was "Enable experimental HEVC decoding", just underneath "AVC decoding". DJI mic 2 is a popular make, bizarre that I have to go into the software's guts to check a strange button to make it work. Anyway, thanks again.

This is a short rendered final video. What we need is the original media straight from camera.
If the duration is long, you can provide a shorter sample, that we can forward to developers in order to be able to correct this.

It has nothing to do with this mic; any mono audio that gets processed with the new decoder (as of build 300) has the same issue. The decoder is much faster for playing back video, it just has some issues like this that need to be fixed.

It turned out to be "Enable experimental HEVC decoding". That worked a treat. Probably worth letting other DJI users know.

I saw that on the timeline. Stereo was fine, mono, slow. Although "Enable experimental HEVC decoding" worked, I just hope this bug is fixed very soon, as I don't like the wording "Experimental".

I found this issue when I tried to edit Zoom (the webconferencing software) audio. So yes, it affects many of us.

Experimental is just referring to the so4compound plugin that was the standard for VP 15-20.

That's why in order to fix this bug, a straight from camera sample is welcome so developers can check it by themselves.

But straight from the camera is fine, I take it, you're referring to rushes. It's just your standard 60fps mp4, off the pocket 3, with a mono line from the mic 2. Everything worked before the update.

I activated AVC decoding, but did nothing for me, HEVC's where it's at, in regards to mono recording. You'll find the preferences tab at the bottom of the option tab.

RogerS wrote on 4/12/2024, 6:40 AM

Whether you need to activate legacy AVC or experimental HEVC decoding depends on what video format the mono audio is coupled with. It will do nothing to help if you pick the wrong one.

If you don't know, MediaInfo can help you understand your media: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

In my case it was h264/AVC from Zoom, so I needed legacy AVC.
