DNXHD files not importing into Vegas

http://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_4tIJe1VzHpNmVCNG8zRHJlRGM/view?usp=sharing use the DNXHD format on my Atomos Shogun recorder and they no longer will import into Vegas Pro 15.  I have downloaded and installed the DNXHD files on my PC but still get an error of incompatible files.  The ProRes setting files will import just fine.  Are the DNXHD files compatible with Vegas Pro 15?  I previously used these files and they would import into Vegas.

If you have choices, DNxHD is not the best for Vegas these days since it relies on 32-bit Quicktime. Some discussion here: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/the-day-vegas-sort-of-broke--107450/

Nevertheless DNxHD should open in VP15 if you have Quicktime and the Avid codecs installed. Could you please share a sample somewhere like Google Drive, Dropbox, mega.nz?

  1. Thanks for your response Nick.  The reason I was using DNXHD 145 was a longer recording time than ProRes HQ.  Is ProRes 422 a viable selection to record to?  I posted a short video shot in DNXHD 145.  I have the Avid Codecs installed but no quicktime since it isn't supported on Windows anymore. The video link landed on my original post.

Your sample opens OK for me in VP12/13/14/15. You'll need Quicktime installed and 7.7.9 works OK for me despite it's age and lack of support. I never use the Quicktime player, which I guess would be the most likely source of any security problem.

ProRes HQ is supported natively in VP14 and 15 so that would be a viable option without you having to install Quicktime. However bear in mind these 3 issues which might affect you. I think they still exist in VP15 build 177:

  1. Slow opening when importing ProRes files
  2. The end of 23.976/29.97/59.94fps HEVC & ProRes events is not visually quantized
  3. ProRes audio recorded in FS700 with Odyssey 7Q+ is too loud

Too bad Vegas Pro doesn't support DNxHD in an MXF wrapper...

I used to have quicktime installed on my computer but uninstalled it when it became a security risk and unsupported for updates by apple.  I am hoping there can be an update to allow DNXHD files imported without quicktime.  Thank you all for your inputs.
