It will work. I've done it even with 1 AMD GPU and 1 NVIDIA GPU.

It's a good idea in theory, however I don't think it's really necessary for Vegas as the load of running the display(s) is not much for a modern GPU to handle, leaving most of the power for GPU-acceleration is you want/need it.

CUDA only works in Vegas on really old cards like GTX 560. OpenCL is better supported and reportedly works well in Vegas with cards like AMD R9 290X, 380X, 390X, FuryX (and all variants of those without the "X").

Take into account the extra noise, power requirement, heat, and potential hassle of a 2nd card.
