While some users may be a little irritating with their coarse methods of communicating it seems to me that completely ignoring a user would be a little bit like an ostrich who sticks his head in the sand to avoid danger.

"I can't see him, he must not be able to see me"

I know some of you have precious little time to waste on humans that are inferior to yourselves in the public relations department, but maybe you could teach them a few things instead of simply flaming them.

Try to make your replies something that will benefit the one asking for assistance. And yes, that includes the ocassional reprimand of those with grating personalities.

I thought of something else,

I'm not saying I don't agree with those of you who were being critical of Zippy's original post. I think BillyBoy's first post was perfectly fine in it's intent, however I would have been more impressed if he had gone on to post a link to a few tone generators.

And for Zippy, you can't expect programs to have all features ever invented across the board. Look at all the plug-ins for AfterEffects or Maya. Are these programs top of the line because they offer everything someone could ever need? Nope. Hence the plug-ins.

Personally I would like for Vegas to have a built in motion stabalizer and some better cleaning tools ... built in. But not having them doesn't make Vegas a losing piece of software. I prefer it over the others, at least when I started using it. I personally don't care what brand I use as long I like it better than the other choices. When the demo for Premiere Pro comes out I will definitely be trying it to see how well they improved the usability. If it suddenly beats Vegas then I'll have to start looking at switching over.

And by the way, there is a section on this web site for requesting features. Be sure and post that if you want to see it as a feature. Don't assume that the programers read every single post on this forum.

OK, this makes me want to sing... or maybe record a new song in Vegas. Please sing along (or use it as a tone generator ) if you like:

Zippy's a doo dah, Zippy all day
My oh my, Billy jumps in the fray
Plenty of postings coming our way
Zippy's a doo dah, Zippy all day.

So what is the proper setting(Hz) for a tone that is to be used on a Beta SP tape going to a television station?

I'm using the NCH software.

I work at a video duplication place and I can tell you that 99% of the producers, aty least in my area put bars and tone on a tape and they never match the audio. In a perfect world you should be able to pop in the Beta tape, set the tone on the deck to 0db and the levels should be perfect in the program staying at (or as close to) 0db as possible.

See my post above titled "Bonnie, Clyde and Shane" for some thoughts on this. :)
