DVD Architect Studio 5 will not accept serial number for reinstall

After reinstalling DVD Architect Studio 5, I get a dialog box that says my trial version has expired and ask for my serial number. I enter the serial number and click Submit. The dialog box disappears, then returns and the text box containing the Serial number is empty. I have tried this several times and the same thing happens. Any ideas how to fix this problem?

After burning a hundred or so Blu-ray discs with DVDAS5 over the last two years without problems, I started having an issue with aborted Blu-ray disc burns and an error message that said "Device failed to respond within the Timeout period." Switched out Blu-ray burners but problem persisted, and that is why I was trying to reinstall DVD Arcitect Studio 5.

This isn't going to be of much help, but may point to a different problem. I just moments ago installed my old DVD Architect 5.0, used my serial number from a different install a year ago, clicked to register it, it successfully registered with Sony. I think the only difference is yours came up with trial version expired, mine did not.

@Halcyong, You could try deleting your license folder in the registry, as described in this solution for Vegas Movie Studio, but the folder path would be something like:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Wow6432Node > Sony Creative Software > DVD Architect Pro > 5.2 > License

Please let us know if it works.

Thanks for the replies.

Deleting the License folder in the registry solved the first of my problems and allowed me to enter the Serial number and successfully reregister DVDAS5. I now have my favorite Blu-ray authoring program back. I am also happy, happy, happy!

For the second problem, I did the CTRL+SHIFT and dbl click on the desktop icon and deleted the cached app data. Time will tell if this affects the timeout error and aborted blu-ray disc burns.

Just a followup:

Since reinstalling DVDAS5 and then CTRL+SHIFT and dbl click on the desktop icon and deleting the cached app data I have had no aborted Blu-ray disc burn failures, and no "Device failed to respond within the Timeout period" error messages.

I'm having this same problem with the same version of the program (5.0) and am unable to locate the License folder. Can anyone assist?

Well unfortunately I had to reinstall DVD Architect but because the registry folder is gone I can't get the program to open without it telling my serial number has expired. What should I do???

After putting in the serial number I just get the same window again.

I also have provided a screengrab of REGEDIT to show that the correct folder was removed from the Wow6432Node folder from my previous installation from a few months ago.

You should be able to enlarge the pic by clicking on it or zooming in depending on the device you're using. What you listed is exactly my problem. The Sony Creative Software folder is not there in the Wow6432Node folder as that was likely the folder I had deleted when I installed the program a few months ago. Since I am reinstalling the program I can't duplicate this action with the folder gone. See the problem??

I did look in that folder. Even in my screengrab the Wow6432Node folder is open (notice the subfolders??). However none of the subfolders listed under Wow6432Node are called Sony Creative Software. That's because I had already deleted it a few months back when I originally installed the program but now I'm trying to reinstall the program but I can't delete the folder because it's already gone.

I have to check but based on my grab it doesn't appear that there is a second WOW6432Node folder on my end so I guess I'm stomped. Furthermore I'm waiting for a response from support. If that doesnt go through I may need to upgrade to another version.

Here's another screengrab this time of all the subfolders in the WOW6432Node folder opened (from the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node). Nothing else listed in that folder as Sony Creative Software or WOW6432Node.

Furthermore there are folders listed as Sony Creative Software listed in the following paths.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE

Would these have any effect on anything?? Should I possibly remove everything related to the program from my computer and start from scratch??

Based on my experience above, a trial version lisense folder must exist for the Trial Version Expiration box to reappear. Backup the Registry, search for DVD Architect, and look for license sub folders. Delete the license sub folder if appropriate. If I remember correctly, I had removed DVD Architect Studio 5 from the computer, and then searched all my hard disk files for any remaining traces of folders or files, then deleted them before deleting the license folder in the Registry, but not sure this was necessary.

No luck. I deleted every trace of DVD Architect I could find on my computer including in REGEDIT. The folder did not return in the WOW6432Node folder when I reinstalled the software. I guess there's no way around this. Furthermore support has not gotten back to me yet. Should I delete Vegas Movie Studio as well?? That program still works fine so I decided to leave it be.

Just to cut a long story short support sent me a link to download and reinstall the software. It didnt restore the folder in the WOW6432Node folder but I tried something different this time. I deleted a folder called DVD Architect Studio from the path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Sony Creative Software. After this the program accepted my serial number and registration info and the program opened. Everything appears to be working now! :)
