From my experience, they only way to avoid the split point problems is to have the file properly connected which requires a new file be created.

Question, do you have the ability to mount two cards simultaneously? If so, you could join the files on one card and write the resulting file to another card.

But, i'll also chime in with the more disc space theme. I recently bought a 4TB WD external drive for $106 at NewEgg.

Come on guys, i don't want to buy a new HDD again.
It's not a financial thing its just a logical:
if i could edit from the card, why buy a new device?
If not (it seems the case), then i can accept it and live with this issue.
(i will connect the files to a usb3 pendrive)

Thanks for your answers.

If it's not financial then i don't see what the problem is. I've got a stack of 20 hard drives sitting here on my desk. I connect then in groups as i need them.

What seems logical to me is giving yourself enough working room to do the job right. Editing from a card or pendrive does not seem at all logical.

For me it is..

- fast (i do simple edits, no several tracks, etc)
- works with files up to 2GB since many years..
- no need to buy a new device again (time, noise, power consumption, etc)

So thanks, i have all the answers now :)

Will your camera tolerate the "foreign" files on the card?

I will not put it back, only when finished editing and formatting the card.
