Editing MTS and M2TS files in the same project.

At a recent event I took video using my Sony camera and loaded my MTS files into Pro 13 and edited and created without a problem. A friend at the same event took video using his Psonic camera and passed his files , which are M2TS, on to me on an SD card. When I load them into Pro 13 they play ok and I can edit them. When I amalgamate the MTS and M2TS files into the same project the M2TS files jam when I try to edit them, just a blue circle going round and round and then "not responding" appears.

Any ideas how I can get round this please?

Convert your .MTS/M2TS containers to .mp4 using something like FFMPEG or another container utility. I have found Vegas to struggle with multiple format containers, and specifically .M2TS from canon cameras that record audio as AC-3. Getting your media inside an mp4 with preferably uncompressed audio would be the best.

Converting media to say cineform would be another solution.

Although on a different subject, this post may help you with setting up a workflow to convert your files to MP4 using ffmpeg: https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-convert-mov-video-e-g-iphone-to-mp4-for-vegas-pro--106154/

Thanks everyone. I followed your advice and used Nero to convert the files and it worked perfectly
