error code when opening gopro videos

Paul-Galante wrote on 9/6/2021, 7:39 PM

Vegas 17, movie studio, just purchased today. I get error message " Warning: An error occurred while opening one or more files; the reason for the error could not be determined" when trying to upload gopro videos. I also have a problem with audio. Static will play over all videos. Even when leaving program. I tried to watch a video from a website, and still get the static. I was able to get rid of the static after doing a restart om my PC, but as soon as I opened Movie studio, it returns.

Search "audio static" on the forum and you will find several threads on the same problem.

This thread may be useful https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/static-on-playback-r-stays-until-computer-restart-on-all-programs--126246/#ca785859

As for your GoPro problem please provide MediaInfo on one of your files. Instructions here https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/faq-how-to-post-mediainfo-and-vegas-pro-file-properties--104561/

Now I have no sound at all, and my PC troubleshooter says my speaker is disconnected and can not reconnect. I am not a tech type, and just wanted to edit some gopro footage . The guy at Best Buy said this was the most user friendly editor. I was using MS movie maker on my old laptop, but that machine was 8 years old, and memory was full.

1. It would be better to place the sourcefiles not on C;/, but on another drive or partition
2. Use also these settings

I am going to try to upload using the usb port, directly from the camera. If I can’t that to work I’m just going to consider this wasted money and trash it. I am not a computer guy, and have no idea how to partition anything.

my bigger concern at this point is getting my laptop sound to work again. When I first installed it I got the static through my speakers on anything I watched. The speakers at work again if I rebooted but as soon as I open Vegas the static came back. Now I have no audio on my computer at all, and using a troubleshooter on my computer it says the speakers are disconnected and cannot be reconnected. This all started as soon as I install this program

I uninstalled this trash, did a system restore and Windows reinstall and fixed the problem with my audio not working. I then installed Microsoft Movie Maker Pro for $15. It works instantly with no problems. So disappointed I wasted 4 days and $60 on Vegas.
