Even Magix Video Pro X has improved multi-timeline and keyframe graph

I do like Vegas a lot. Timeline editing is fast. Rendering is pretty quick on my computer.

Rendering is not fast on vegas. with a basic transcode on a particular 1080p30fps video I got 48fps on Magix AVC (Nvenc) , 58fps using 3rd party encoder plugin Voukoder AVC(Nvenc) , 216fps Davinci Resolve AVC (Nvenc) and 555fps using VideoProc AVC (Nvenc)

Vegas and Resolve outputs are the same quality, but I can't say for certain about VideoProc, it could be using a different NVENC profile to get double the speed of Resolve

*Just a note, vegas encoding speeds were slower than what I usually expect, and I realised after it was because the video I used was 1080p50fps, and I encoded at 1080p30fps. This reduced encoding speed by about 20fps. For whatever reason Resolve and VideoProc can change the fps without incurring a time penalty

When wanting a product to improve, comparing it to others is inevitable. Especially if the features in the competing product are perceived to be better. That's why there is always comparison to Resolve and Premiere, and now to a lesser extent, Magix Video Pro X.

It points to areas in Vegas that need improvement to remain competitive. But let's also not forget where Vegas excels over the competition. One of my gripes is I can not "see" what the different fonts styles are in the text editor drop down menu.

I can see where the constant posts that seem to be negative about Vegas, are making Vegas appear to be worse than it is, but if the comments are factual, then sometimes our ire can be misplaced. I happen to like Vegas a lot, and enjoy editing in it. I am not editing on the same level as many here that have been using the product for ages, so I appreciate the comments that sometimes seem to go against this software. It shows me more about how Vegas works.

I too want Vegas to be stellar, improve and gain market share. I look forward to VP18 and see what it brings to the table.

@Former user I am using an AMD RX480 8GB card. Rendering is fast for "me".

Side note: I've tried Resolve several times. Not for me, even if it is free. Premiere... I personally hate being held hostage and have to pay forever. Magix Video Pro X I have considered... but unless I can edit where overlays are placed over the video, my one brain cell has a problem editing "upside down" even though I am slightly dyslexic.

I have both, and keep coming back to vegas as primary , and use resolve in areas it's excels at or vegas can't do.

@Former user the right tool for the job you are working on. I think that most of us here have more than one editor that we use.
