If you could identify just ONE feature in Vegas that has saved you a ton of time, eased your workflow, or altered the way you look at the editing world...what one feature would it be?
Stability, workflow, flexibility, user friendly, forum, ripple edit, sync, HDV capabilities, 5.1 and about a thousand other things. Integration with Forge and scripts. Undo's, save on power failure (over 20 times), save on blue screen.
Complaints: constantly have to check cuts, when projects get to 1.5 hrs starts to suck up lots of memory if they are complex, then have to reboot to reset paging file.

I added Vegas (and Cineform HD) to my NewTek VT system simply to get HDV editing in a way that neither broke the bank nor created a steep learning curve.
Now I love it and do almost all capturing and editing with it.
My favourite feature is the rich array of filters and how easily they work.
More specifically, the Magic Bullet Diffusion 5 filter included with Vegas is my favourite filter. Don't know if that qualifies as it was not developed by Vegas.
But then if I include 3rd parties, the Ultimate S2 from VASST is at the top of the list.
I wonder why nobody even mentionned the simple fact that Vegas always actually keep playing when editing. *This is* real time working for me and and it's unique (to my experience) in the video editing world.
Playing with filters, tracks, events, even saving, without the need to repeatedly stopping/playing the timeline cursor is invaluable.
No doubt about that. Its a rare day when you can't just install Vegas and start working. It takes about 30 minutes to get going, starting from a broadband download of the application.
If you are planning on sharing these results with Sony (who may or may not be reading all this), you ought to tell their product management that this thread gives them a clear message on how to increase share:
Go after Pinnacle customers, and promise them stability!
Given the consolidation on their side (the Avid/Pinnacle merger), I would suspect that Pinnacle products may be getting even less support than usual. If I were the Vegas product manager, I would set as a strategic goal, for the next twelve months, capturing 50% of the existing Pinnacle user base. Normally, such a thing would be totally impossible, but I think that this group (Pinnacle users) is unusually vulnerable.
I just read this month's Maximum PC magazine, and they gave Pinnacle Studio 10 a whopping 3 out of 10. Finally, a mainstream review not afraid to call bullsh** on this product.
A toss between color correction and unlimited audio mixing. Audio feature that I hope they never take away from Vegas in favor of Sound Forge, although I have both.
There are many for sure but I don't think anyone has mentioned zooming in and out of the timeline with a mouse wheel. I wish After Effects would add this feature. Makes it so easy to navigate large projects and even 30 second commercials. I'd like to see them add a way to nest tracks into one layer-not necessarily to nest layers but to hide some. When you have 15 to 20 tracks it's too cluttered. You should be able to designate shy layers or consolidate them and hide/reveal with a short cut.
