Feature Request

Hello, I'm new to this forum and to Vegas Movie Studio, so this might not be the right place for this, but I'd like to make a feature request for VMS 14. It's this: In the Project Media Window, it's possible to see what media has been used on the timeline by looking at the 'Use Count' in the details view. However, it would be nice if one could see at a glance on the thumbnails view. This could be effected by changing the text colour beneath each clip. For example, the text could remain white for unused media, and change to yellow for any media that is on the timeline. I think this would be useful to have. Can this requested be passed to Magix's development team? Thanks.

A workaround to quickly see which clips have been used sofar:

  • Select all clips on your time line, than right-click and select "Select in project media List".
  • Used clips stand out now in Project Media List.

But a comfortable solution to see which thumbnails are used is also not given in that thread, or I missed something.

Another way to make your editing overseeable: keep your projects simple, do not throw all your footage in one project, divide project in several subprojects, use the bin structure and remove unused media from project.

Thank you everybody for the help you gave to me. Your advice has been very useful. I'm new to Vegas Movie Studio, but not to video editing.

I have another (minor) request to make. How should I go about this? 🙂

Do a search to see if it's already been requested (not easy as the forum search is not great). If not then start a new thread on the forum. There is no official channel for feature requests any more.
