Feature requests regarding Pro Type Titler

KenKen wrote on 9/13/2023, 6:40 AM

I have been waiting for a long time for a text input field to be added to the "Pro typer" additional feature of VEGAS Pro, but finally it was not added to VEGAS Pro21. (I never knew such a forum existed:'( ) I love this feature, but when entering text, if I don't enter the text after selecting all, the animation disappears. However, I am Japanese and the Japanese input method is special, so even if I input after selecting all, the animation disappears, so I have to copy and paste the characters I entered in another input field. I can't tell you how much I would be happy if Pro Typer had a text input field. Also, this feature is awesome and should be further developed and turned on by default. Also, the easing curve in Pro Typer was not flexible yet, so it should be improved.

note: This English may be wrong.

@KenKen To get a better understanding of your problem, by 'Pro Typer', do you mean the deprecated feature called 'ProType Titler'? Assuming that you do, why do you say that there isn't a text input field?
When you drag a ProType Titler media generator onto the timeline you'll get the following UI.

If you click the plus sign (marked with a red arrow on the image), a text input field will show up on the display (shown by the red arrow in the image below).

The text field is already highlighted, so you can start typing. When you've finished editing the text field, press Esc to return to the main interface. Is this what you mean? If it isn't, you'll need to explain some more, and possibly include some screen shots of your situation.

@KenKen Sorry, no further development will be done on Vegas ProType Titler....

I don't really understand the issue either. I thought it might be with the conversion from entered roman letters to hiragana or kanji characters but it seems to work. I was able to add and keyframe an animation.

Sorry, I didn't explain enough.
When you press "Navigate to child(⤵)" above the text field and apply the animation to a clause or character by character, the animation disappears when you enter characters without selecting all, or when you enter characters in Japanese.
In other words, I want a notepad-like input field where I can just enter text, like in Premiere Pro, instead of typing directly into animated characters.

As @Steve_Rhoden says. ProType Titler is a deprecated feature. This basically means that it's out of date, with no hope of further development.

Are there any alternative functions or software?

VEGASDerek wrote on 9/15/2023, 6:14 AM

We have made it no secret that we very much desire to create a new, more fully functional titler for VEGAS Pro. Currently we offer the Titles and Text plugin natively, but we realize that is quite limited in functionality. A new titler is fairly high on our list of features we would like to do natively in VEGAS Pro, but we waiting for some engineering resources to become available for us to assign to this task. Right now our priorities revolve around improving app stability and a revamp of our playback engine.

Previously, to compensate for the lack of professional titling options in VEGAS, we have bundled a third party titler with some of package offerings. For VEGAS Pro 21, we are not currently providing a third party titler with any of our packages, but I will forward this to our sales group.

In the past we have partnered with FXhome, NewBlue and BorisFX all of which have fantastic titlers and we currently do have an expansion pack available for VEGAS Pro that has TitlerPro from NewBlue. Please see https://www.vegascreativesoftware.com/us/expansion-packs/#productMenu

Although I already know that from the developer's point of view, ProType Titler is a plug-in that cannot be further developed any more.

However, from the user's point of view, I still have to praise ProType Titler as one of the most powerful 2D titler, which is worth further development (if possible).
