Files from my camera are not working with Vegas 21. Extremely weird!

So, the file does play back fine with Nvidia decoding on a laptop....

@Uytkownik-Vegasa

For the file it worked with my laptop and NVDEC decoding (GTX 1050) selected in file io (legacy AVC off) with VP 21. The next oldest version I have here is 19.651. I tried that with Intel decoding and it also worked with no problem at full framerate. I skipped back and forth, no freeze, no black screen. I have the latest NVIDIA studio driver installed, do you?

I know it's a new installation but maybe try a reset and cache clear in case it inherited something from the old VEGAS versions?

@RogerS Can you check task manager to see if it's really using the Nvidia decoder. I recall that Vegas will override user settings for decoders with specific formats, presumably when it's known there's a problem with the chosen GPU decoder

I think you are right.

Testing back in 19 with NVDEC selected (QSV is fine) there seems to be a black screen and memory leak. Look at the ram usage driven by shared GPU memory!

QSV plays fine with normal ram usage:

I have the same issue on VEGAS Pro 21, contacted support team, they told me, that the problem will be solved with one of the update . However, the problem is still not solved. Any news from the community?

@RogerS You can help fix Nvidia using all your System ram by this setting

It should stop system crashing/locking up, and as an added bonus it will use all your VRAM instead of the default action of beginning to swap to system ram before all of VRAM is filled. I think this is a better setting because, although I haven't seen it yet, Vegas should crash with an out of VRAM error and that is more diagnostically significant then computer locking up because it's out of system ram.

It actually will still use system ram but if you have enough your system will be protected (my understanding)

@Former user That is interesting, thanks. Maybe it will help someone here.

With VP 22 I am not seeing this. I do see QSV using up to 50% of system ram, which appears to be as designed but on a 32GB system hardly leaves ram for anything else. I haven't yet seen the memory leak others have reported, and by the time I find it it may be patched!
