⭐Flow for VEGAS Pro(Extension for animations based on bezier curves)⭐

Comments

3POINT wrote on 3/24/2023, 6:35 PM

@3POINT Your observations are true. However, the native vegas curves are not very good to work with, because when we apply very large parameters the keyframe goes out of our field of view, making it impossible to create the curve. The advantage of vegas flow is also being able to use the same curves without having to create them every time you animate.

Indeed, the Vegas Bezier curves could use an upgrade, they're not user-friendly.

one of major issue is you can't go 'outside' out of the frame locations.

hmmm - needs to be combined if you need the very intensive-specified type animation

What vegas curves lack is being able to hold shift to create them more precisely. And make the keyframe not disappear when the parameter is much higher.

Pan/crop tool is the most confusing tool (for beginners) in Vegas, I hardly use it anymore. I think it will become a deprecated feature one day. All FX/Transitions and Title&Text have the possibility to generate Bezier curves except Pan/crop.

@3POINT I even recommend this script made by @jetdv. You can set a keyboard shortcut to always open PiP instead of pan/crop. It doesn't add several PiP just adds once and next time you just change the parameters.

The only advantage I see in Pan/Crop is that when we "rescale" an element by Pan/Crop it doesn't lose quality because it uses the media resolution. PiP uses Project resolution.

I'm not sure about that, a compare I once did, didn't show any difference between a PIP extreme zoom-in and a pan/crop extreme zoom-in. AFAIK only Trackmotion uses project resolution.

m3lquixd wrote on 3/25/2023, 8:00 AM

@3POINT

This is not true. Well, I don't know exactly if PiP uses the project's resolution, but one thing is for sure and there's no denying it doesn't use the same resolution as the media. As I work with a lot of image elements, things to animate... I've been noticing this for a while. But when I went to animate an image that was quite tall, I came across the problem. I'll send you a project that you can analyze with your own eyes.

I would really like the devs to solve this, at least put an option in the preferences to choose if we want to use the fx with the media resolution or the project resolution.

I certainly hope not! I use it on MOST of the videos I do. Not confusing at all. It allows you to CROP just the portion of the video you want to use and also PAN across the video. Hence the name Pan/Crop!

I think people are more confused with Track Motion than Pan/Crop. The new PIP effect is really more of a replacement for Track Motion than Pan/Crop.

And, yes, Pan/Crop uses the full resolution of the image/video where Track Motion does not.

I'm not totally sure where effects fall on using the resolution. It could be that if placed before Pan/Crop they use the full resolution but if placed after they do not...

@Jack S About the Pan/Crop masking I agree, I use it a lot, because the bezier masking still has a lot to improve. Ctrl + z doesn't work, you can't delete a point, there's no way to move just one rod to curve... several problems. In addition to being easier to use the Pan/Crop masking since you don't need to mark several options, such as: Edit mode. Bezier masking needs to improve its method, it's weird.

Vegas has to review the method it works with effects, for example when we apply a PiP or a Bezier masking, we cannot move them with the keyboard through the video preview, only with the mouse. And that for me the Pan/Crop takes advantage.
