Hey all ,

I use sony vegas a bit for editting and what not but i have come across an issue that i would really appericate if someone can help me with .

Issue :

Im making a security cam type video . i have added the footage , done my FX's and to give it that choppy look i changed the FPS in the project options to 3 FPS . All in all it looks exactly how i want it .

However , once i render the video the FPS has been rendered as what the oringal footage was and not at the 3 FPS i need to give the choppy effect .

Can someone please tell me how to fix this ASAP

Thanks in advance

To simply render a video at 3fps, change the Frame Rate in your custom render settings. It doesn't look like you can change that, as there is no "Custom" in the dropdown menu, but you can just by highlighting the field and typing "3".

However my players (VLC, WMP) don't seem to like that much, and online services like YouTube might not either. A better way would be to change the undersample rate of the video, and then render at a "normal" frame rate. Right click on the video event and choose "Properties" at the bottom:

There may be scripts that can set the undersample rate of multiple clips at once. Vegasaur can do it (Editing > Quick Properties > Events).

Depending on the format, the bit rate of a standard render template will unnecessarily high for 3fps and you can reduce it a lot.

"All in all it looks exactly how i want it."

This would be described as a very unothodox way to solve your issue that I would likely only propose because you are simulating security video which is usually not very good.

Use Debugmode Frameserver to output your "security" video section of your project from the Vegas Pro timeline to a signpost .avi file.

Open the .avi file that Debugmode Frameserver produces in your favorite player software and play full screen with the screen resolution set to your Vegas preview resolution.

Capture the video of the preview using screen capture software like Open Broadcaster Software.

Replace the "security" video in your main Vegas project with the OBS capture.

It sounds way more complicated than it really is. It will probably take some processing power to get it done, though.
