"That totally sucks if they've removed .avs support. But, to avoid confusion, frameserving to TMPGEnc is still possible directly. It just means we can't process through AviSynth on the way.I'm really on shakey ground responding to this post because it's been quite some time since I fiddled with TMPGEnc, but doesn't the "ReadAVS VFAPI plug-in" need to be installed in order to process .avs files?

The problem is... I did a quick Google search and the download site is unavailable.

If none of that makes sense, please ignore this post (Heh, it barely makes sense to me.)

Guys how are you frameserving to TMPGEnc? From where? I tried a while back and hit dead ends all the way. This is not up my alley

I know I can use mvtools in avisynth in TMPGEnc but how is the question.

Jerry thanks for the feedback I did e-mail you back where I got stuck “take your time I am only up to my chin lol” I think DiverG answered my issue unless you have another idea.

Now not sure if problem lies with TMPEG, they responded quickly with a load of suggestions of which none worked.
I keep log book of programs in/out of my pc’s. The last time I used .avs scripts in VMW5 was just before VP11 was released.
Have just un-installed tmpeg, rebooted and set a restore point. Installed my original version of vmw5 and still no .avs support. At this stage I’m not inclined to back track further to before adding VP11.
No problems picking up and working with the debugmode signal file from either VP10 or 11.

Thanks Nick. I'm off to Ireland for some R&R shortly, but will give that a try as soon as I get back. Have a good WE everyone.....I will. :-)

Guys how are you frameserving to TMPGEnc?

I have TMPGEnc Xpress 4.0, which was the predecessor of VMW5. It can directly open a .avi signpost file from Debugmode Frameserver, and it can also open an AviSynth .avs file, but in the latter case you have to either drag the .avs file onto it or choose "files of type > all files" since .avs does not show up in the list of supported file types.

doesn't the "ReadAVS VFAPI plug-in" need to be installed in order to process .avs files?

That's if you want AviSynth output to be accessible as a dummy .avi file, for example if you want to open AviSynth output in Vegas. But it may be a workaround for getting AviSynth output into VMW5. That can end up in quite a chain, and your colorspace/luminance can be a bit of a handful to control, but it should be possible. I actually wrote a little guidance on doing that here.

Better lobby TMPGEnc/Pegasys to restore .avs support in VMW.
