Glitch in movie studio? Or what am I doing wrong?

So I have an image I want in frame in the corner of my video. When I resize it and use the pip effect it will resize the part how I want, but below it there is a strip that is part of the original image I started working with, and happens by itself and messes up what I'm doing. It does it with video in the pip windows also. I have had this happen on a few videos now, and it has made me ditch what I was trying to do all together and do a different idea. Now i keep getting held up when I need t use this feature in my videos. I have an attached screenshot.

On a side note I have been working with that same part of the video shown I am using the cookie cutter effect, and when it pops up I want the opacity to fade of the main video while the cookie cutter segment pops up. When I go to insert envelope it only displays freeze frame, and not anything else. Not sure what I am doing wrong but somebody can shed light on that also that would be helpful. Thanks!

I've never used any Vegas studio versions, so I don't know how applicable my suggestions are, but I would first troubleshoot by muting each video track, one at a time, to figure out which one is causing the issue. At least then you know where to focus your attention to fix it.

I rarely use the PIP feature in Vegas. I generally use either pan & crop or track motion to squeeze video and place it where I want it. In my mind, it's just a more straight-forward way to do that.

Note to self (everyone else please look away -- the note that follows is a reminder for mine eyes only): Figure out a clever, kick-booty signature that suggests I'm completely aware of how to properly and exhaustively party on and that I, in fact, engage in said act on a frequent and spontaneous basis. All joking aside, listing my computer's properties is a futile endeavor. I edit multimedia in a local television station newsroom that has Vegas Pro installed on several machines with widely varied specs. We began editing non-linearly with Pinnacle Studio Version 8. That didn't last long before we upgraded to Vegas Video Version 4, then to Vegas Pro 10.
