What did you connect - and how?
Is your camera not recording to an SD memory card?
If so, a memory card reader would be required. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memory_card_reader

Depending on the format in which you recorded, the media files can be found in Windows Explorer

@Drew-Morris

Hi Drew,

For cameras that save to SD cards, that is, in digital format, you should use the method proposed by the camera maker to import/copy the files from the camera SD card to your computer, then you import (use) that in Vegas. Or, you can do as Walter indicated. You use a video program for importing from a camera when you need analogue to digital conversion, like when using an old video camera that recorded to tape or VHS.

I have the Canon t4i. You should have installed the Canon EOS Utility 2 or the previous version that comes with the camera. This should open automatically when you attach the t3i to your computer. If not, attach the camera and open the utility. Set up the preferences, including file naming and destination folder with automatic creation of subfolders per date, or something. Download the images/videos.

When done and you have checked that everything has been correctly copied to your computer, you can erase the files from the SD card using the command in the camera. This way you never have to take the SD card out of the camera. Make sure to back up your files that you imported onto your computer (automatic backup is best).

HI
@walter-i.
@john-brown

no, i am not recording to the SC card, but instead, i my using my canon T3i camera for livefeed & video capturing using Canon's new eos webcam utility 1.1, which turns your canon camera into a HD webcam thru the USB 2 or 3 port.

i think you can record to the SDcard as well while recording, but i haven't gotten that far, to tested that part yet thou.

here is a link to their EOS webcam utility win 1.1 version, just in case other didnt know that canon done so (they have the software set up for 40 of their camera, now for the beta version). Mac users, your version is still under development.

but i have found my answer thou, while looking into another issues, it was the privacy setting.

i want to import and play with an old movie but the video and sound are on the some track (I'm guess,) i saw something in a post on that topic but haven't relocated it again. i can play the movie in VLC, it has sound, just none in VP

Thanks for your Time and input!
Drew
