Help, AI Speech to Text VP 22

Sassylola wrote on 11/15/2024, 5:41 AM

I am running Vegas Pro 22 Build 194. I am doing a project for my family for Christmas.

When I go to analyze a audio track it does a great job. But after it analyzes my audio, I go to View: subtitles, then to Generate Titles. But the problem is the titles are put underneath the Video and audio track (see below) I then have to manually move the subtitle text above the audio and video track. Is there a way to automatically have the subtitle be put above the audio and video track?

This is what is analyzed a audio track in AI Speech to Text.

After it analyzes and I choose subtitles and generate titles, it puts the generated titles below my audio and video track. Upon playback you cannot see the generated text until I manually move the generated text above the video.

This generated text was moved manually above the video event. I then can see the subtitle on the screen during playback. I want to ask can this generated text somehow be automatically placed above the video event on the track so I can avoid manually moving the subtitles above the video event?

Thanks.

Subtitles by definition are placed at the bottom of the screen. What you are seeking are surtitles which are placed at the top of the screen which have been used for decades in theatrical/operatic performances in a display above the stage.

You might want to add surtitles as a feature request in https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/forum/vegas-pro-feature-requests--134374/?page=25

@Dexcon, if I understand correctly for me to have a subtitle being shown on screen as the commentator speaks as shown below is, after it analyzes and I select subtitle and generate text and Vegas places it below my Video event. The only way I can have it shown on my playback on the screen is with manual manipulation? By moving the generated text manually above the video event so it can be shown? Or as you said surtitles?

When I have used this feature, a new track with the subtitles is created above the others. I'm not sure how the software determines where to create the track. Do you initially have other tracks below the one with the audio events? What track is selected when you generate the subtitles?

RogerS wrote on 11/15/2024, 8:28 AM

That's odd, usually it appears above the tracks. Are the audio and video grouped?

Here, even upgrouped the subtitles in VP 22 were added above all other tracks and are visible without me doing anything extra.

Sassylola wrote on 11/15/2024, 12:41 PM

@RogerS, some of the events are grouped together and some are individual WAV files that are being analyzed and then put beneath my events.

I have included a video of the problem. You can see that the generated titles are being automatically put beneath the video and audio event. I have also included a MediaInfo file on the WAV files I am using.

MediaInfo information on one of the WAV files being used. Generated text goes beneath the Video and Audio event on this WAV file and all other WAV files.

On this example video being used is ProRes that was done in Shutter Encoder. This file is grouped together. As you can see generated text is being put beneath the Video and Audio event. You cannot see my full preview screen in this video. But when I move the generated titles above the event it shows up on the preview screen.

Thanks

It must be something specific to this project structure. I added three videos with a bottom one partially blocked by the middle one and all subtitles went to a new track above all VEGAS created titled "subtitles from speech". If there are two events with audio at the same time it still went on the same track, overlapping each other.

Did you delete or otherwise change that track?

Sassylola wrote on 11/16/2024, 5:34 AM

@RogerS, you are correct it is something specific to my project structure. I opened a new project in Vegas and used some of the same events that is in my problematic project and used speech to text and it worked like it should. Generated titles were put above my events. So now I know that Vegas speech to text will put generated text above my events, just not on my particular project. I can live with that. I will mark this as a solution. Thanks.
