I've been using Vegas for 20 years and have never come across this dilemma. How do I crossfade from the top video track to the two clips below on separate tracks? They are on separate tracks because I needed to do some track motion with them compositing them into one track. Is there a way to virtually bounce those tracks down or something? I know this is probably a cakewalk for most people here. Thanks, Mark
1. Fade out the upper track.
2. Fade in the underlaying tracks after select them all, ready, if the positioning is right
Here's a video showing how I do it:
Slide the tracks so they overlap, select the audio and video tracks, grab the crossfade handle (forget it's official name just now) and drag it to the desired overlap time, repeat on the other track. (1 second in my example.)
In your example, just select all the lower tracks then move them and fade them together.
Technically, just fading out the top track should be sufficient. You really don't need to "fade in" the lower one.
Or you can drag a transition from the list onto the start or end of a clip, the very first frame or last frame if you haven't already created a fade like mentioned above,

+1 again. You will get a different fade if you also fade in the lower tracks.
