How do I make scripts for VEGAS Pro? (I have zero knowledge)

alifftudm95 wrote on 10/13/2021, 4:40 AM

I have this editing consoles called TourBox Neo that can map whatever shortcut keys into this hardware. And this Editing Consoles does work with VEGAS Pro very well.

Now in VEGAS, if I left click & drag in the timeline, it will make a region selection. In order to make a selection in the timeline (Press D few times to toggle between edit mode) I have to physically press the selection edit tool icon on the edit toolbar menu.

Is there a way for me to create a script which I can toggle between Normal Edit Tool or Selection Edit Tool?

The script I will later assign with a keyboard shortcut, and then mapped to the tourbox.

I believe VEGAS Team can just make "Right Click + Drag" to activate the selection edit tool. Its a very essential function in editing in my opinion.

Go to www.jetdv.com and start at the oldest post and work your way forward. (There's a "VEGAS" playlist on the YouTube channel as well.)

Do you know you can press the D key to scroll through selection tools? press it twice to move from Normal Edit to Selection Edit. Press Ctrl+D to move instantly back to Normal Edit. And beyond that, keep your eye on future updates to VP19. We might have an even better solution for you soon. No promises.

Yes, I always press D to toggle between the edit mode. However, The normal Edit Mode & Selection Edit mode should be merge together like in other NLE. I always move big portion of my cut in timeline.

I remember one of vegas community members suggest to add the selection edit mode when right click + drag in timeline, that is actually pretty good idea.

As I suggested, you may not have to worry about this much longer. Watch in future updates.
