If it is a standalone program, then by that very definition it works as, well, a standalone program and not as a plugin.

In any event, from BorisFX's compatibility webpage - https://borisfx.com/products/host-compatibility/ - shows Sapphire Builder as only being compatible with Adobe, Avid and Resolve. This is also explained on the Builder webpage - https://borisfx.com/products/sapphire/sapphire-builder/

Anything created within Builder can be shared and edited between any of the supported host products: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Avid Media Composer, and Blackmagic Davinci Resolve.

I'm not sure what's going on with some of these free standalone packages. There was a forum post not all that long ago where the Vegas Pro purchaser got a free BorisFX Title Studio standalone program. That's fine for designing a title and saving it as a title project, but the paid OFX Title Studio version is needed to use that title project in Vegas Pro because Title Studio standalone does not export a title as media (e.g. mp4 or mov).

Yes it seems not to work properly. There is a big red x on the area where the image should be. Thanks for the answer anyway

Here's what we managed to find out when installing different versions of Sapphire OFX (hereinafter S_OFX).

1) the stably activated version of S_OFX when integrated into Vegas Pro is version 8.15 of 2016 (!). In this version, Sapphire OFX Builder WORKS (without any red X), you CAN normally apply the effects FROM Vegas. link https://borisfx.com/support/documentation/sapphire-v8-for-resolve-nuke-vegas-fusion-studio-scratch-and-other-ofx-products/

2) version S_OFX 9.03, running Sapphire OFX Builder with red X.
https://borisfx.com/support/documentation/sapphire-for-ofx-1/

3) Version S_OFX 2021.51, running Sapphire OFX Builder with red X. The available effects (specified during installation) can be changed in the Preset Browser, there is an option for the Edit Mocha effect.
https://borisfx.com/legacy-downloads/sapphire-2021-5-ofx-hosts-windows/

4) version S_OFX 2022.04, running Sapphire OFX Builder with red X. Not even the available effects are triggered (if I'm not mistaken). In the effects selection section there is the notorious S_Effects, but this is of no use.

How would I make everything work? To whom to turn?

Do you have the proper S/N ? How about asking at the BorisFx support?

Hi, I remember that thread, didn't they get that working? because like you say it's pointless if you cant export or add the title to the timeline 😒

@peter-h7637 I would contact Boris on their forum https://forum.borisfx.com/ they are very helpful but from my experience tho any post that includes 'Vegas' in the title gets limited help if any 😒

I have the Full Boris package, S_Effects (Builder) , when the selected parameters are chosen, they do not show in Vegas

& in V Effects every parameter is show, the list is long, see the size of the scroll bar on the top right of the Controls window 😒

I am now of the opinion that the free version of Title Studio (TS) deliberately doesn't have an export option because if it did, then it would very possibly be freely used to import the TS export into almost any NLE and positioned by pan/crop (in VP). This would mean that there would be little need in the end to buy Title Studio.

Overall and IMO, the 'free' version is a teaser - just another approach to a 'trial' version. If you like what you see in the free version, then it's necessary to buy it to get its functionality into your chosen NLE. It's marketing.

@Dexcon Yeah, that's a bit crap, if i bought software that included an extra, i would expect it to work in the host. as with my paid version, the standalone doesn't export, it only saves the project, so without the plugin it's useless, That is not a good promotion tactic, it would put a flea in my ear 😒😠

@Former user  ... I've only seen on this forum a few instances where free Title Studio has come as a bonus with Vegas Pro. I've never received that offer myself - and it doesn't seem to be available from BorisFX's website as is free Particle Illusion. Maybe the approach taken with free TS last year was a limited marketing trial.

Going back to July last year, the OP of this thread had an issue with Sapphire Effects Builder which, to my understanding, is a basic Sapphire 'organiser' which requires the full purchased Sapphire program to be installed in order to work. The recent addition to this thread appears to have many 'full' versions of Sapphire which thus differs substantially from the OP's original concern about a free basic version. Maybe the most recent comment should have been posted as a new issue on the forum.

@Dexcon

Yeah, TS is a paid for product but can be bought as a single item so that free extra deal that inc TS seemed generous but believable, the free standalone TS only comes with the full Continuum package,

And thinking about it now yep to have S_Builder you'd have to have Sapphire, I very much doubt it is a separate standalone version because inside builder are all the effects of Sapphire, it's pretty much a composite shot type thing, in a way a bit like VE does, it opens that event & you add fx's to it, but in Builder there are only Sapphire fxs
