Wow Earl, how did you find this old post? I didn't even remember posting to it back then, but apparently I did. It's still funny

1 pessimist - But since the new bulb most likely won't light up either, don't bother.

How many Mac users does it take to change a light bulb?
None. You have to replace the whole motherboard.

I can't understand why it needs changing - mine works perfectly well here - are you sure it's not your hardware?
TheHappyFriar wrote on 5/9/2010, 6:23 PM
so how does the whole "light bulb changing Nazi!" fit in to this? :p

Since version 9d of the light bulb it takes forever to light up.

Hello John,
it was a link from another thread here in video... it looked so lonely and forgotten; I thought I'd bring it back for a short visit... (grin)

Until that time... Earl J.

As a work around, you can try reseating the lamp. Sometimes tapping or knocking on the lamp (car headlights especially) will make it start working again.

However, a related question is... How many teamsters does it take to change a light bulb? 7! YOU GOT A PROBLEM WITH THAT?!!!

<<<Former teamster. ;-)

intel i-4790k / Asus Z97 Pro / 32GB Crucial RAM / Nvidia GTX 560Ti / 500GB Samsung SSD / 256 GB Samsung SSD / 2-WDC 4TB Black HDD's / 2-WDC 1TB HDD's / 2-HP 23" Monitors / Various MIDI gear, controllers and audio interfaces

Point of order:

Is a professional light bulb, or a consumer light bulb?

As usual very informative thread

Where do I click to turn this bulb on. I don’t see it anywhere?????
Xander wrote on 5/10/2010, 3:14 AM
After all this time. It's the lightbulb socket and not the lightbulb even though all the previous lightbulbs worked in the same socket.
Laurence wrote on 5/10/2010, 7:02 AM
The list missed a couple:

3 to question why the manufacturer of the said light bulbs hasn't made any comments on the quality of their bulbs and why they burned out in the first place. Don't they even read these forums!

5 to compare the quality of these light bulbs with the light bulbs of other manufacturers and say how they were going to switch light bulb companies and never come back.

11 to say that they are glad that these five are leaving.

2 to say that the five did have a point and that the light bulbs do indeed burn out faster than last years model.

2 to say that all light bulbs burn out and that the other brands are even worse.

1 to say that the main competitors light bulbs never burn out and how they are so much better than the light bulbs that this particular forum is dedicated to.

35 to call the last poster a troll.

1 to return and say that not only are the competitor's bulbs better, but that the light looks better from their bulbs. That the light from the bulb everyone's talking about here sucks.

1 to tell the last poster that he can't take it anymore and he's leaving permanently because of him.

12 to say that the last poster was the most valuable member of the light bulb forum and that his help with past light bulb problems had helped them much in the past.

1 to chime in and say that his light bulb doesn't work at all and that this brand of light bulb sucks.

1 to ask if the last poster's light bulb was plugged in. It wasn't. Problem solved.

The VAT in this country <<fill in your favorite socialist society here>>> makes buying a replacement lightbulb truly unaffordable. Can any of you post a link to a supplier that'll ship one to me from overseas?
LivingTheDream wrote on 5/10/2010, 8:25 AM
100 forum members to ask if the new bulb was even beta tested before being released.

3 to provide lengthy explanations regarding NDA's and add that while they don't know who the beta testers were they're certain they did a good job testing and they did it for free.

1 to explain how to overclock a 60W bulb to 100W and which fan/heatsink combo works best for doing this.

13 to warn of the dangers of overclocking bulbs and tell why it isn't even necessary to do so.
John Gordon wrote on 5/10/2010, 10:44 AM
Edison can neither confirm or deny that said lightbulb was designed to change...
DrLumen wrote on 5/10/2010, 10:46 AM
1 to attempt to hijack the thread to a political, religious and/or socio-economic discussion of the electricity needed for the light bulb.

8 with rebuttals for above.

2 with questions about using a different manufacturers lampshades with the bulbs.

5 to mention that fragmentation of the bulb may be the issue.

3 to respond that fragmentation does not affect performance of bulbs.

Sorry, couldn't resist. ;)

1-poster to ask whether it's better to have more bulbs in series or parrallel for better perfomance.

5 to chime in that series is great but if you loose one, you loose the whole array. Then to respond that parallel will offer redundancy and disaster recovery so if you loose one you can continue to have light and can change the bulb at your leisure, at the expense of more wire added cost for bulbs and technical knowledge to hook it up.

How many forum members does it take to keep one thread going longer than the duration of said light bulb? :)

Is this an incandescent or florescent light bulb? It takes a different skillset to change florescent :0

1 forum moderator to say that you can't call another forum member an "idiot" despite the fact that they are advocating using a big candle as a cheap replacement for a light bulb.
Earl_J wrote on 5/10/2010, 12:10 PM
Hello John,
does that still pertain even in spite of the fact that so many computers now come with a standard candle holder for just such events... I have a button that I push and out slides a holder ... where I can place any number of items that I need to keep conveniently near-by ...
And in the case of the candle, even if the whole house loses power, at least I'll still be able to see the keyboard for sending my email . . . LOL ... that's so stupid, I'm calling myself an idiot. . . hahahahah
* * *
such a waste of time ... but so much fun . . . (grin)

Until that time ... Earl J.
Editguy43 wrote on 5/10/2010, 2:23 PM
Hey Earl,

If the whole house loses power how can you still send email? ( you see the power is out and your computer won't work) hahahahaha...... I kill me.....:-)
Earl_J wrote on 5/10/2010, 3:00 PM
Hey Editguy...

now you know why I bolded the that's so stupid, I'm calling myself an idiot! part ...
and laughing out loud over it all. . .

and I'm getting another laugh all over again because you actually sent me an explanation. . . (wink)

This sort of thing could go on for weeks. . . (grin)

Until that time... Earl J.
