How To Backup Application Date In Vegas Pro 15 and 16

I'm used to saving some application data - for backup obviously and to transfer some data to a laptop from a desktop. Windows 10 64 bit all bang up to date. Vegas 15 and 16 are latest versions.

Specifically I use Render Templates, Media Generators (Titles and Text), Event Pan Crop, and Windows Layouts.

All through Users > name > AppData > Roaming

This folder has two Magix folders, two Sony folders, and two Vegas folders.

The Render Templates show in the AppData and when I run Vegas 15 and 16.

The Media Generators show when I run Vegas 15 and 16 but do not appear to be in the Roaming AppDate so I can't copy them.

The Event Pan /Crop (I have a lot of modified versions) shows when I run Vegas 15 but not Vegas 16. This is probably because I input all my new presets in 15. I have not used "Mask". They do not appear to be in the Roaming AppData.

The Windows Layouts show in Vegas 15 (again I had input new versions for 15) AppData but not my versions in 16 or in 16's AppData.

Can anyone let me know where I can find the latter three in AppData (or whereever they are) - Media Generators, Event Pan Crop, and Windows Layouts. Many thanks.

Event Pan/Crop presets are in the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Sony Creative Software\Vegas Pro\1X.0\Metrics\Application\

You should be able to transfer registry settings (with great care!) using this type of procedure.

I can't find Media Generators at the moment because Regedit hangs on my machine when I search in it.

Windows Layouts are in %APPDATA%\VEGAS Pro\1X.0\ You can transfer those using this type of procedure.

Thanks Nick. I seem to remember a combination of copying appdata and using Vegasaur up to VP13. It looks much more painful now :- (

I think I'll get in touch with Altarvic (Vegasaur) and check what can actually be done for sure and what cannot - I see he has posted some recent comments in the links you provided. I'd need to update to Vegasaur 3 to be able to use VP15/16.

https://vegasaur.com/vegas-presets-manager - I see that Media Generator presets are there under "Plug-ins". Event Pan/Crop presets are there under "Application". I don't see windows layouts in there, but those are pretty straightforward to copy over as they don't involve the registry.

I don't think the situation has really changed since VP13; settings were and still are strewn around the file system and registry. Vegas really needs a smoother way to migrate settings between versions or to transfer settings to another machine. In the meantime Vegasaur does a pretty good job.

The only presets that the Vegasaur Preset Manager not saved are: Windows Layouts, Keyboard Shotcuts, and Project Settings.

The Windows Layouts and Keyboard Shotcuts presets can be found in C: \ Users \ name \ AppData \ Roaming \ VEGAS Pro \ 15.0 or 16

The Project Settings Presets can be found in registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Sony Creative Software\Vegas Pro\1X.0\Metrics\VideoProfiles
