BTW, I think I have finally decided.....It will definately be the toe for SPOT's book.

PS: No disrespect SPOT.....just getting a little slap happy here while trying to edit a friends wedding. 8 horribly lit , grainy, out of focus 2 hour tapes. I better go get another glass of wine, maybe the footage will start to look better.......

Is it possible to change the shape of the rectangle? For instance, if I wanted it taller and thin instead of tv shaped?

Matt,

You can’t control the shape of the rectangle with the cookie cutter. For this you need to use your own mask. The easiest way to create a mask is to use the generated media right in Vegas.

Add a video track above the top track and add a Color Gradient as Generated Media using the default Preset of Linear Black & White. Change the Gradient Type from Linear to Rectangle. Now play with the (1) and (2) Control Points until you have a white rectangle in the shape and size you want. Finally press the composite arrow on the track below this one to use this generated media as a mask. (this is the same as the cookie cutter would do) The white rectangle will show the track below and the black area will show the track below that (i.e., 2 tracks below)

It's hard making general statements about copyright because of this international forum, but you may be interested in the Australian situation for event videography.

Over here, an Annual Domestic Use Video Licence costs A$374 and covers the use of any commercial music in videos that are supplied to those people who appear in them, for their private domestic viewing. This covers weddings, concerts etc. It is limited to 30 copies per event and does not cover corporate or training videos.

For those who prefer to licence each event separately it costs A$37.40 per event for up to 5 copies.

If a business does weddings regularly. the fee is negligible - some get away with A$3000 for a wedding video.

P.S. Sorry, eejackson - this seems to have got intertwined with your original thread.

Thank you,

I managed to figure most of this out myself last night after reading an article online about showing only one colour ontop of a black & white image.

The differences I used was that I generated a solid blue (colour doesn't matter) media and used the Video Event Pan/Scan to set it's size and position (make sure you have the "Stretch to fill frame" UNchecked otherwise your top track will squish into the small rectangle).

Using this method, the cropped rectangle represents the area to show of track 1, and the area outside it shows track 2.

This method will only do rectangles and won't do the feathering.
