How to do this light reflection effect?

aboammar wrote on 4/30/2016, 9:50 AM
I am working on a corporate video for company called PIL Group, and I need to create a simple animation to the PIL logo with some sort of light reflection effect. I know how to do this on static images or graphics with CorelDraw, but I had a hard time to replicate and animate the effect in Vegas Pro. Please see the animation here:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/922o8ck87vb1wva/PIL_Logo_Animation_Test.mp4

I manged to achieve a satisfactory result but only with white background, however I need do the same with transparent background so I can use it on any background I like. Any idea how to do that?

Any feedback is highly appreciated

This Project should get you started. Add a Chroma Key filter to your graphic and set the Color to White.

Edit: Added a brief youtube tutorial.

I would suggest an animated (moved) color gradient mask with a white additive overlay.

Since you created a video of your animated logo, I created a project with the video included that will have the white area transparent if you put a track underneath it. I did this by using the Chroma Key effect setting the key color to white. You'll see the video underneath show through like magic in the youtube tutorial that I added to my original post.

Just drop a video under your graphic in the project that I posted.

I see .. I got your idea, but the problem is that the white color inside the logo is part of it, and the Chroma Key effect will remove the white part of the logo as well.

Yes, this will work, but the problem now is that Vegas Chroma Keyer is not the best, and I could not achieve the best and cleanest results with it. I tried BBC 10 Chroma Kyer and it seems to work only with normal Chroma colors (Blue and Green)
