How to Get Sony to Work With a x264vfw Codec?

GamingCurios wrote on 11/16/2014, 10:44 PM
Hello Everyone,

I am currently having a problem using my game footage (League of Legends) recorded using the DxTory settings and x264vfw - H.264/MPEG-4 AVC Codec that can be found here: https://forum.speeddemosarchive.com/post/dxtory_recording_v2__the_perfect_settings_thread.html

The file can be played just fine using VLC player, but when I try to open it up in Vegas, I get the error "Warning: An error occurred while loading the project file. An error occurred while opening a codec"

I am using Sony Vegas Pro 12.0, with the system specs of:

Nvidia GTX 760
Intel i7 4770k @ 3.5 ghz
16 GB Ram
Windows 7 64 bit

I tried reinstalling vegas, as well as installing the x264 codec located here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/x264vfw/files/

The problem still persists and I have no idea what to do. I really want to work with this file type since it is extremely optimal for my recording setup.

Make a short sample of the video available for download and someone will help. I don't capture games but even I'm curious about what you have going on.

Search Argument = x264vfw Codec

AFIK Vegas does not support High 4:4:4 profile.
And even without this you can get some troubles with DxTory product due to weird packaging of video stream that DxTory does. I've seen few complains about it.
Direct approach is to reencode dxtory product in some transcoder like Handbrake, Avidemux etc.
