How to import 4K video?

Inkyung-KIM wrote on 1/12/2025, 9:25 PM

My Vegas is 20 Pro. I'd like to import a 4K video, but when I try to drag and drop the 4K video file, the video track is not generated. Only the audio track, which is recorded with the video, is created.

The video length I recorded is only 1 minute, but after importing it, I don't know why the timeline becomes so long.

There is no issue when importing FHD videos; both the video and audio tracks are generated automatically.

I am using a Canon 5D Mark IV to shoot video in 4K 29.97fps Motion JPEG.

The issue isn't 4K it's motion jpeg. You may need the quicktime plugin and quicktime enabled in preferences/ deprecated features for that. I think it supports it natively these days but haven't checked as it's not a format I use.

Vegas Pro 21-315 and 22-194 opens Canon 5D IV MJPEG video without any herky-jerky motion these days, at least, on my machine.

That's good, so no QuickTime is needed for mjpeg with VP 21+.

@Inkyung-KIM I'd recommend upgrading to VEGAS Pro 22 or there's a sale on 21 so you can work with this footage directly.
