How to move Frame by Frame with out alt

This- wrote on 11/3/2018, 12:18 AM

Ever since I first got Vegas14, I have been able to move frame by frame using my arrow keys regardless of how zoomed in I was. Now all of a sudden, half way though a project, It now varies on how zoomed in I am. I'm editing key-frames and its such a pain when it moves less than or more than a single frame!

All I want to do is use the arrow keys to move frame by frame all the time, without me having to hold down alt.

I'm still knew to Vegas, and I have know Idea why this changed in the middle of working. Any help would be very much appreciated!

"...it moves less than or more than a single frame!"

Look at the state of the Quantitize to Frames switch.

My  Quantitize to Frames switch is on, what does this mean exactly?

My  Quantitize to Frames switch is on, what does this mean exactly?

It means that the cursor and the start of video events will always be moved ("snapped") to frame boundaries, with the exception of audio-only event edits, if that is set in the Editing preferences.

When you're zoomed into the timeline, the arrow keys move the cursor by a single full frame. When you're zoomed out, as you've found out, they move it by more than that. It's been like that for a very long time (I just tried it in VP10, 14 & 16).

I also often wish it would only ever move the cursor by a single frame, even if zoomed out, but I suppose the way it works now may be important for someone who is editing without a mouse.

Thanks for the ALT+arrow tip. I'd forgotten about that.

You could switch the keystrokes via "Options/Customize Keyboard".

Using a device like the Contour Shuttle makes moving one frame very easy, regardless of zoom.
